Hi all.
I'm a nursing student, but actually doing a short oral report on the 1976 Indian Health Care Improvement Act. This is for my Native American Literature course. All the students had to choose something on the Native American timeline, and every week we have a few speakers.
I've found some information on the introduction and purpose of the IHCIA, but I'm wondering... does anyone have information on how ICHCIA has helped the Native american community, if it has? This can be statistics, or they can be your personal experience?
I was also wondering, I see that the act expired in 1999, but I was unable to find out if the ICHCIA has been renewed?
Thank you so much for your help! I've been doing a lot of searching and only finding tidbits of information everywhere, but they only lead me to more questions!
:heartbeat
If anyone can help, it would be very much appreciated. I am still searching and haven't found out if the IHCIA has been re-approuved.

Here is one website on the topic.
http://www.nihb.org/index.php?topic=ihcia
And an older one is:
http://www.ncai.org/ncai/advocacy/hr/docs/IHCIA_Fact_Sheet_NCAI_NIHB.pdf
There are several older webpages out there too.

Hope this helps some.
Thank you so much Thunderwolf!! That helped a lot.
