I'm thinking of relocating to IL after taking my boards in November. Do anyone know for sure if Excellsior is recognize by the IL BON?
How do I confirm this for sure before signing up with the college?
Will appreciate your input.

It is NOT recognized by IL. The reason it is not is because in order to be licensed in IL, the nursing education must provide concurrent didactic and clinicals. Excelsior and other distance ed programs don't provide that.
Thanks for your input.
Do you know if the Indiana State University LPN-BSN is approved by the IL State BON?
And just for the heck of it -- which states except Excelsior nsg education?

based on this website (http://www.istudysmart.com/content.asp?cid=70) the excelsior rn degree will be accepted in il after two years of rn degree outside of il. here is the quote:
"illinois
all graduates must endorse in with 2 years of rn experience"
however, i will directly check with il board of nursing. here's the contact:

okay i was right. i checked their website and yes you can endorse in il after two rn years experience. trauma is kinda right but there is a provision to it. here is the website and i will paste the specific excerpt about excelsior college: http://www.idfpr.com/dpr/apply/forms/rn-en.pdf
[color=#292526]endorsement
[color=#292526]in order for your application to be processed,
all required supporting documentation must be submitted
with the application and required fee unless otherwise directed in the instructions.
[color=#292526]note: [color=#292526]excelsior college a/k/a/ the university of the state of new york regents
external degree program is an unapproved nursing education program in the state
of illinois due to the fact that it does not have concurrent theory and clinical
components as required by the illinois nursing and advanced practical nursing act.
therefore, it is considered to be a correspondence course which is identified by the
act as not meeting the requirements for licensure.
there is a provision in the act to allow for individual review of applications from
applicants who are graduates of such programs provided the applicant is currently
licensed in another u.s. jurisdiction and has been actively practicing in clinical
nursing for a minimum of two (2) years. the applicant must have an employer
complete a ve (verification of employment) form verifying two full years of clinical
practice as a registered nurse. this must be submitted with the endorsement
application. when the application is complete, it is reviewed by the board of nursing
for a determination of eligibility to be rendered.
good luck with nursing school! (again)
