I won't be able to get my second hep b shot by the deadline listed because of the two month waiting period. I got all the other vaccinations done including TB test. Do you think it will be a problem if I only have the first hep b shot done by the deadline?

Hey silly, what school did you apply to? I just turned in my application Friday @ Kingwood!
Now I'm not 100% sure about this so take it with a grain of salt, but from what I understand, as long as you have the first shot of the series by the application deadline, I think you're good.
I would call the nursing office to be sure though. I'm about to hop on the website to look some stuff up and if I see it on there I will post again.
thanx for the quick reply.. i'm in the cy-fair program. from what i read it says the series must be done before entering clinicals. do you know when clinicals start? i can't find anything on them
Well, I don't have the updated Lone Star catalog, the one I have is for 2010-2011 so it may have changed, but they have the first round of clinicals listed in the first semester.

However, on the immunizations page on the LSC website, this it what it says
"Since the Hepatitis B series takes six months to complete, we advise prospective students to at least begin this series before turning in their nursing admissions application."
This sounds like you may be ok, depending on the situation.
The information seems to be contradictory in some places so I would definitely call your nursing department at Cy-Fair and tell them you need to make an appointment ASAP to meet with the nursing department director. Go in and sit down with her face-to-face; it will be much better than just calling and asking the receptionist, who in my experience, are not the best people to ask...I myself have received incorrect information from them.
Good luck and please, let me know!
