Hello! I am new here, and I am a current Nursing student (go ASU!) looking into going the Air Force Nursing route and I've happily come across these forums in my search for information!
I have been getting as much information as I can off of the internet but I haven't been able to find out much on some of the medical issues that can PDQ people.
So, my question would be if anyone knew where can I find a place that basically lists the medical problems that could disqualify me from being an Air Force Nurse? And probably more importantly, do the health care professionals like us get a little more slack since we won't actually be in combat, or is that just wishful thinking?
I guess that I am just nervous about the whole PT thing. I am a seasoned athlete having played sports all the way through high school, but I am afraid that some soreness and stiffness from playing sports might hinder me in PT tests now. Also, probably my biggest concern is that I will get PDQ'd because I have IBS. I know none of the armed forces will allow anyone with certain digestive disorders like Crohn's, ulcerative colitis and things of that nature in for enlistment, but has anyone heard about IBS or any lax in those rules for health care professionals?
Thank you all for your time! I really hope that I can contribute and help my country in the years to come! I just can't wait to don that uniform and help those who protect us.

dqs really vary from person to person and from service to service along with the ability to abtain a waiver. i am going through the process right now and its just at 90 days since my physical. from my understanding since medical are not considered line officers; obtaining a waiver has a higher probability.
sites where you can find more information:
