Okay, so I am currently reviewing for my NCLEX exam. I am confused because it is stated in one of my study material that the ff are needed to do when you are initiating droplet prec:
* Surgical mask, gown, and gloves
*Disposable eating utensils
*Distance of 3 ft away from the client
Now, when I answered this in the Kaplan during a SATA question, It said that for droplet prec, you dont need disposable eating utensils.
Can anybody enlighten me on this one?

None of those are actually correct for droplet precautions. Droplet precautions include masking within 3 feet of the patient, a gown and gloves are recommended if you're likely to come into contact with bodily fluids, although that is not specific to droplet patients. Disposable utensils are not necessary.

I haven't seen disposable eating utensils used in years for any kind of precautions. Maybe Ebola would need them, but not for droplet.
