I don't remember how many questions there were, exactly...I'd say between 50 and 100, but the questions on the written part of the test are very easy. Mostly common sense.
For the skills portion, you will have to perform somewhere between 3-6 skills (it varies by state) including all listed steps in front of the tester. It's nerve wracking, but if you know your skills and relax you'll be fine.
I did my exam in Fl. we had I think 65 questions(easy) the skills are what "trip most people up" they are not "that" hard, just very nerve wracking performing them in front of the lady whom is following you around watching every little move you make and they are not letting you get by with any mistakes these days. so practice practice practice.....I failed my skills part the first try,but passed the 2nd time. mostly about "nerves" Goodluck and enjoy
I took my state test in Michigan. I had to do three skills test and washing hands was considered part of every skill. In Michigan if you don't pass the skills you don't get to take the written test.
My skills were randomly picked. I just pretended that it was my class friend I was doing the skills on. I passed the first time.
You are really watched! If during the hand washing procedure if you touch anything your not supposed to, say I just touched the faucet so I am going to rewash my hands.
Also, I dressed in my scrubs, it was a lot more comfortable, especially since you don't know what skill you are going to get. The day I took my test this girl wore jeans and she regretted it.
