Question about A&P 1 Class

Hey everyone. I am trying to figure out what to do. I'm interested in starting prerequisites for the LVN to RN transition program. I started taking an 8 week, A&P 1 class online a few months ago but within the first week, I had to drop the class. It was an incredibly overwhelming amount of coursework, especially since I currently work full-time. I am a single mom of a toddler and I have level 1 ASD. I usually do very well in school. This is the first time that I've ever had to drop a class. I was wondering if anybody had any advice as to whether I should take this class online or in person. I work well independently and I don't have a problem understanding the information but it was just so much so quickly and I have a tendency to learn a little bit slower than others. Also, I don't have the greatest memory so I have to go over the information over and over in order to remember it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you so much.

I had to drop Anatomy the first time I took it b/c I was unprepared for all the memorization.

You might want to take Anatomy separately from Physiology.

Think about how you can best memorize a lot - what methods work best for you?  Here are some approaches:

- flash cards

- coloring (very popular way to learn Anatomy, lots of coloring books for this)

- you could buy some cheap models to help you get used to 3D as opposed to just flat pictures

- learn to use memory devices like Mnemonics.  there are lots available or make up your own

Even songs

Just Google "mnenomics for anatomy"

I also retook anatomy with a different teacher at a different school and he was a better teacher, so I was able to learn and get an A.

Having a study partner or being in a group helps some people.  That doesn't work for me, but it does for a lot of folks.

Hope this helps.

Good morning.  I am sorry for your frustration.  If I were in this situation, I would maybe look for a 16-week A&P course.  Things go a little slower and might fit better.  Maybe an in-person course would be better, as you can ask questions and maybe find a study buddy.

Do not get discouraged.  Keep moving forward.
