Quebec to Toronto Nursing

Published

Hi im a new member here. I graduated four yrs ago outside Canada. Here goes my situation. ..Id like to take the nursing exam here in Montreal,Quebec and if I pass , I like to move to Toronto. The reason Im moving to Toronto because it is an English city. If it happens I move in Toronto, do I still need to take another nursing exam? Or is it wise to just move right away to Toronto and be a nurse there? thanks guys :woot:

Have you checked the college of RN website? Sometimes it is easier to register were you plan on working but I would suggest checking out the job situation for Ontario before deciding where you wish to live and work.

Here is a link to CNO if you are licensed in Quebec Canada (outside Ontario) - CNO

When IENs enter Canada through Quebec in order to use it as a back door entry to an English speaking province, it not only perptuates the nursing shortage in Quebec, it is also viewed as deceitful. If there is any way to stay and learn French in order to work where there is a real need, it would a better choice, ethically speaking.

Hi,

I have a similar issue.I am a RN in Montreal and we are going to move to Ottawa. I would like to know that how long it takes to be evaluated there and also how is the job opportunity in Ottawa?

thanks

I'm here in montreal and I don't think there is a nursing shortage. the govt cuts the funds for healthcare here. and also only 30 new applicants out of 100 they are now accepting in cegeps for integration unlike before. it's also hard to attend French classes when you are working. of course, we have to prioritize whatever job we could get here to pay our rent, bills etc. IENs, really tried to stay here as long as we see some improvements but its better to be realistic than positive.
