On hold has nothing to do with pass or fail.
Were there any issues when you tested? Computer glitch, problems with your palm scan/thumb scan, stood up without raising your hand, wrote on white board before tutorial was over, brought in a sweatshirt and put it on the back of your chair, or worse did you access your cell phone during break? Did you test quickly (did you finish your 75 questions in an hour or less)? Is this your first attempt at the NCLEX?
There are a variety of reasons for hold. It means that they are reviewing your test responses, keystrokes, white board, audio & video from the testing date. It can be because: 1. random quality assurance audit, 2. tested quickly or slowly and they are auditing to ensure there are no issues, 3. minor incident (stood up during test without raising hand, computer issues (computer froze, calculator failed, etc.)) and they are reviewing to ensure there were no abnormalities during test 4. issues with scan/ID/etc (QC/QA of equipment, etc.) or 5. or a more significant issue (minor rule violation--stood up without raising hand, panicked and wrote on white board before tutorial was over, or major rule violation--accessed cell phone during break, brought review materials into testing center)
If you did nothing wrong, you now have a very difficult job: hurry up and wait while quality assurance reviews the data. If there was no issue, your results should be released in a couple of days (QA doesn't seem to work on weekends though). If the issue was not your fault (computer issue/glitch) and it adversely affected the quality of your results your test will be invalidated but you'll be permitted to resit the exam at no fee. If you violated a rule and it's evident by the QA review, such as accessed your cell phone during the exam/break, then your exam will be invalidated (whether you passed or failed) and the incident will be reported to NCSBN and your board of nursing to make a determination of the next step. Obviously someone who cheated would be barred from testing again (unfortunately this HAS happened in the past)
After a couple of days if the results are still on hold, some posters have been successful in getting an answer by calling Pearson Vue but not everyone.
Good luck.

Yes, on hold has nothing to do with pass/fail. The PVT won't work if your results are on hold; they have to be submitted. My results were on hold for a few hours for whatever reason, but then afterwards they were submitted and I was able to do the PVT. I know it's hard (I was panicking!) but just try to be patient. Do something to take your mind off of it for awhile, then check back later.
Thank you so much JustBeachyNurse for your information. I really appreciate. They had a difficulty to scan one of my hand in the beginning and also when i took a break. This is my first attempt for nclex.
Thanks turnforthenurseRN .
I remember i got so many wrong. I got last question wrong too. It's very hard to not think about test.
I took mine yesterday in the morning but still get the same message. well thinking about going to mall nw.if i stay at home,i can't focus on anythg.
I will keep you guys update about my results.
Thank you guys again
My recent update:
I got email from pearson vue saying that they found my ID( i dropped it in there didn't know until today..)>maybe this is the reason i can't use quick results, still says results r not available. I am freaking out :-(
I called pearson vue office and left message9maybe they close saturday).Don't know how long i have to wait for my results.

How long did you all wait for results on hold? I took my nclex on march 3. Due to my palm vein scan they have placed my results on hold!

Mine were placed on hold due to palm vein scan too - it wouldn't read my hands. I asked the TA, after the exam, if this would cause a "hold" and she insisted it wouldn't. They use very cheap low quality junk palm vein scanners where I tested. I'm not too happy that I have to experience stress because of their inadequate equipment.

how long did you have to wait till you tried again? I know they had a problem with my hand scanning this morning... I'm so anxious
Holds take 36-72 hours. You won't be able to access quick results and the results aren't sent to BoN until hold is lifted
It's not recommended to attempt the PVT multiple times
the first time I did it, it already had that message. I tried a couple of time again after that...I'm tempted to try again this morning.... =(
The more you try the more likely you are to get a $200 test charge to your account.
