Hello, I am not sure if this is the appropriate forum for this question. I passed California NCLEX, but do not have the license in hand (for not having SSN). Under the circumstances, I am putting off my search for employer / petitioner; instead, stay in my home country and work for a few years. CA-BRN has given me 3 years to submit SSN before they abandon my record. Now, my question is... Is it possible to just have my license endorsed to other state (that does not require SSN, such as NY or Vermont), so that 3 years later, if I am still unable to present SSN, I would not have to re-take the NCLEX again. Just curious :stone

First of all, since you have passed NCLEX, you never have to retake the exam. However, California will not endorse you to another state untill they actually issue you a license. THat is the biggest problem with getting initial licensure in California. Things may change later, but right now, that is unfortunately what happens.
Good luck................ :balloons:
OK Suzanne. But in the event that I failed to submit SSN / ITIN 3 years later, how else can I prove that I passed the NCLEX if they already destroyed my files?

Pearson-Vue will always have on file that you have passed. If you decide that after the three years passes and that you are stil interested in a CA license, then you will need to reapply to them. Once you pass NCLEX, you never have to retake it.

Yey, sounds good. Thanks!!:balloons:
Had I only known, I really wish I had taken the NY route. Suzanne, if perhaps after the 3 years passes, can I reapply to NY this time? Can Pearson forward my scores to NY?
Why would you want to go that route? Makes absolutely no sense. I would still go with CA, get an employer, then endorse.............that is the only suggestion that I would make.
No one knows what is even going to happen next next year, so just wait until you are ready. Rulings change all of the time, you do not know what CA will be doing in the future.
No. What I was trying to say was... when everyone else is planning to leave, I am putting it on hold (for an unspecified time). And since NY allows the release of physical license without the pressure of finding an employer (I hope I am correct), I was asking if it was even possible to reapply to NY should CA abandon my record. If I go with CA and endorse later, as suggested, then I would have to leave my home country as soon as I get the approval (right?).

May I know why you took the NCLEX under CA BRN in the 1st place if you have no plans to work in the US for another 3 yrs?
You can get petitioned in CA even w/o the license # as long as you passed the NCLEX if that's your worry.
Approval for 1-140 petition / consular processing in the US Embassy in Manila takes anywhere bet. 1-3 yrs and if you will just find an employer after 3 yrs just as you said then then you will be holding yourself off for a total of 4-6 yrs and we will never know what the immigration laws or how long the process take in the near future. It maybe faster or longer.
You can work your self out during that 1-3 yrs lag on processing your papers.
You can even delay the payments, etc.. if you find it too fast for your liking but at least it's cooking rather than just starting the stove when your really feeling the hunger. Let the brooth wait for you than you wait for it. Pardon my crude analogy but I do hope you get my point.:)
Sir, I'd like to set things straight... It's been almost 3 years passed since I decided to come to the U.S. and took the CA-NCLEX. During that course in time, a lot of things changed---including short and long-term goals.
I guess what I am trying to say is that... The American dream will have to be put on hold for an unspecified time, but I just wish I had gone the NY route so that I may already have the physical license regardless of whether I have or do not have SSN.
The 3 yrs you are saying already passed. or almost up? Is that right? You will have to apply again to NY and even the CVS and provide them a verification from CA BRN or pearson-vue (w/c ever applies) that you already passed the NCLeX. Refer to the thread: How long for NY licensure and read what Starbin is undergoing. Its almost the same as yours.
May I know why go the trouble on applying for CA and NY if your not sure of when you plan to work as an RN there?
Which state you plan to work, if ever. Just curious.
Thank you, Lawrence. I see you edited your post. But in the interest of fellow forumers, I believe I stated my point clearly. I am not applying for licensure then putting my plans on hold. The sudden change of plan happens until after I completed all the exams for U.S. And since my passing of NCLEX-RN for CA is on the verge of expiration, I was curious if it was possible to reapply to NY (this time) so at least I'll have my hard license in case I decide to live the American dream again. I hope this clears the confusion. Thanks to Lawrence and Suzanne.
