Anyone out there have info on the school in Arecibo, PR? It is a 24 month program that begins in August.

I'd love to hear anything, thanks.

Dear Mike, I am so happy for you. Mike are you applying for the accelerate nursing program? Mike, i really want to apply to nursing school in Puerto Rico. But i don't know how. I have tried numerous time to follow the website what other thread have told me, but they all lead to spanish words. I was hoping if you have the time, maybe you can help step by step please. Which nursing school are you applying for?

I just applied online from this page: http://admisiones.inter.edu/

Then I chose option 5 (transfer student). I'm not sure if this is the correct option, but by process of elimination I figured it to be the best. It was a while ago, but I do remember having trouble finding my past school from a list, and I also think I just skipped the part about SAT info. After submitting the application I felt uncertain that I would ever hear back...

My next step was to send my transcripts and ss card. I did that and now I'm at the step that I just described in my prior post.

Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions. If your confused about the spanish try www.wordreference.com to look up words. Also try to rely on cognates (words in Spanish that look like thier English words). If that doesn't work I could help.

If anyone else wants to tell about thier step by step process, I think it could help everyone out. :)

I also wanted to add that I have called Inter Metro and got in touch with someone twice. I talked to one of the directors from the nursing program. I'm sorry I don't remember her name. In a very brief conversation she told me about the "accelerated bsn". She said its a BSN in two years, and that since I already have taken more than enough spanish classes that I would have the nursing core, plus two gen ed classes (History of PR, Christian Faith).

She gave me the number for someone who I can't mention in the posts. The only thing he told me was that he would send out a printable application via email, and that I fill it out and mail it in. I had to call him back once because the first email he sent was missing the attachment. I printed the app, but never ended up mailing it, because I got my response from my online app.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

can i just remind people on terms of service and not to post contact names on the forums. please use the pm system (once you have 15 or more posts) to exchange names. i have edited a couple of posts and removed names

""""one more thing that got my worrying was on this page: http://www.metro.inter.edu/facultad/...enfermeria.htm where it says that it will be nlnac accredited untill 2010. i saw on another post that "they were up for review in 2010". i just got done emailing the nursing director for clarification, so when i find out ill post here.""""""

mike,

have you heard back from the director regarding the nlnac??????????????????????

Interesting. Let us all know what happens. The gentleman you refer to is most likely the same person who I have dealt with the past 4 months. I too applied on-line AS WELL as on paper with the same attached document from an email; I even got the same two emails: The first had no attachment too haha.

I submitted the paper app with ALL the transcripts and a copy of my ss card - they never officially confirmed receiving my application and that was 2 months ago. I did receive several emails and mailed automated letters similar to those you mentioned in your post - asking for things I already gave them weeks ago.

I get too frustrated and nervous to hablar en espanol well enough to communicate the fact that I have very specific questions. If you hear anything like when they are gonna send out acceptance letters (if they actually do that) it would be great to know.

I am from california myself, there are couple nursing school in california that you might want to consider. Such asl, Samuel Merrit, National university, and san joaquin vallely college. I think with your GPA, you can easily get into any School.

Samuel Merritt University is 54,000 USD for a one year ABSN.

I tried inquiring about San Joaquin Valley College and they charge 56,000 USD for an ASN. That is the most insane thing I have ever heard.

I have not heard back from National University but when a school does not list the tuition any where on the site it is not a good sign and very strange if you ask me.

I think it was about a month after doing the online app that I received the letter asking for my ss card and transcripts. I shortly after sent out a copy of my ss card and requested my transcripts be sent from the university where I graduated from. Just about week ago I received another letter this one saying"In order hep us process your admission application, we need the following documents as soon as possible:"

AND the list as follows:

(X*) Official Transcrips from previous intitutions

() Immunization Certificate (green form)

() Evidence of Interview from the Trimester Program

() Authorization form to take courses in our isntitution from your college (special students only)

(X) Catalog from the university transferring from

() Copy of your Social Security CArd

(X*) Others: Mexico College, Truckee Meadows, Western Washington (These are schools I have attended)

I don't really know though what this means... Are the X's what they have and the blanks what they need still? What do the *'s mean. It could be that they are still asking for my transcrips. I sent transcripts from the university where I have my BA, but I didn't give them anything from the other Schools (I assumed they just needed to see that I have a BA).

I think that on Monday I'm going to do my best to contact thier addmission department. I have the luxury of being able to speak Spanish, so I think I'll be able to get more answers. I am also going to take a trip out there to visit the school (and surf) the 2nd week in March.

Despite all the frustations I refuse to give up on going to PR to get my BSN. It's cheaper and quicker than my other options. Plus my Spanish will get so much better and I will be able to surf!

All the above info was very helpful Mike. Please, please find out as much as possible when you are there in a couple weeks.

I typed a long email to (name removed after I read moderators post) but I didn’t send it as I thought my email was over the top.

Though by writing the email I realized how many problems I have had with this place. All this started April 2009 and since then it has been all up hill.

Chanelcing, so what are your plan? Are you still considering Puerto Rico, even though you have to gone thru all this headache? I drop by National University in Fresno, they give a me a package. Their tuition is 37k for 2 1/2 years, but that does not include books and other expenses. On your other post, you mention about New Orlean nursing school. Is that a good school? Any school you could recommend for nursing school that are not too hard to get in? Thanks.

37,000 USD for over 2 years is too much. I plan on not spending over 20,000 total in tuition costs and I refuse to study more than 2 years and preferably less. I could not imagine spending 37,000 USD AND to top it off having to live in Fresno.

The school I applied to in New Orleans is Louisiana State University Health and Science Center CARE program. It is an ABSN that is about 18 months or so long. The tuition is about 15,000 USD for the 18 months as it is a state school. And fortunately Louisiana needs people in the state so the out of state per semester tuition is an extra 900 USD. That is most certainly an out of state tuition I can afford. It is a good program but it is really intense as the majority of accelerated programs are.

Also the admissions process is based on 4 things: 25% GPA, 25% personal statement, 25% interview, and I think the rest was life experience. All this is moot for you though as the deadline was Feb 1st.

By the way, my application for LSU was finally tracked down. ;-)

Ever since applying in December it has been a real headache dealing with UPR staff. I sent applied online and sent a copy of SS card and Transcripts by registered mail and had no problem i called and verified that they did receive them. Then i received the same notice (twice) asking for them again but i ignored it since i knew they already had them. Im happy to inform you guys that i received my acceptance letter on February 5th, however it stated that i had registration on February 4th and my starting Trimester was March 2010! I was super excited to know I was accepted into the Nursing program however it was the wrong Trimester I applied for. It has been easy for me to contact one person their and he has been very helpful i sent him an email after i got this letter and all I had to do was sent him authorization for him to change my start Trimester. I am now waiting for a confirmation of this.

You are planning on going to UPR instead of Inter? Or was that a typo? If so, are they on the trimester plan? Also, any word on how long it would take to graduate with a bsn from UPR if you have a degree already? I'm going to check it out.

Sorry that was a typo...Im attending Inter

Sorry Im attending Inter. When i called UPR i spoke with someone and they told me to check back in January because the pre-requesites for the program would be changing. However, i never followed up with them.
