Puerto rican RN wanting to move to Miami.

U.S.A. Florida

Hello everyone,

I am an RN with a bachlor's degree in Puerto Rico, but i just got my permanent license about a month or two ago. Therefore, i am not able to move and work in Miami Fl. as an RN until i complete my 2 years here in PR. Either that, or i take the NCLEX. I have decided to take the NCLEX but as everyone knows, its a long process and it takes a long while for the state of FL. to get all of your information and proof of english competency ...etc. Now, the problem is that i want to move to Miami immidiatley. I know that i can work at the veterans hospital in miami without having to have taken the NCLEX or without having to have the required 2 years of experience under my belt. But i dont want to sit around in PR waiting for the VA hospital in Miami to give me a call. So my question is if theres anyone that knows of some other way i can find work in Miami? I looked into this and found out that i can "challenge" the CNA test and when i pass it, i would be able to work as a CNA in miami until i pass my NCLEX exam. Is there any other job in my field that i can take up in Miami while i go through the process of taking the NCLEX? The problem is that i want to move asap... what can i do???

-Thank you in advance for all of your help and opinions.

Ive been trying to get my nursing license for the past ten years here in florida, graduated in 2003 from puerto rico, took the nclex twice didnt pass it and now and when i think im going to sit for the nclex the state board says requirements change.i really would like to get my license.but its to much money when they tell you everything is good and than no you have to send for this and that.how can you get your license if they make it impossible.

Same thing is happening to me now. It's so sad, now I feel I have a BSN for nothing.

Does the FL BON ask for English verification while you do the endorsement from PR license to FL license? THANKS!!!

Hi and hola to RN wanting immediate relo to Miami. Without a license in healthcare, LPN CNA or for RN yet, it will be nearly impossible to find employment itna hospital; however, there other alternatives within the healthcare industry. For example since you're possibly bilingual a recruiting company I know may use your skills to profile RNs ready to come to Miami who already passed Nclex. Now, for Nclex visit Nclex prep websites- there is one offering online FREE NCLEX prep on your phone or computer. Neat website and unlimited. I'm a retired hospital nurse recruiter. Feel free ask me and I'll try my best. Search for place entering Ten Steps Guide Free Puerto Rico Nurse Nclex and nclex m foreign edcuated rns licensure employment steps and you probably find the website and others. There was also a firm called IMED. Search for it; they placed Puerto rico rns in our hospital and many other with Tenet and HCA
