Public health nurse mom

I will be having my #2daughter mid february. My 2yo is already in school fulltime. I work m-f and am unsure of what I will do when the baby gets here?

My mom lives with us but is currently wrking and unable to help. We live 2hrs from the rest of our family (and even if we lived close there wld be no one to help since everyone wrks fulltime).

I refuse to put my newborn in daycare bc I do not trust anyone w my child (espec when they cannot talk). Also, if we do decide to put her in daycare, she wld be in a dif one than my 2yo bc her school starts at 2yo. Or I wld be forced to switch schools so they can both be in the same one. AND daycare is expensive for multi children.

Anyone in a similar situation or can offer suggestions?

Btw, im the breadwinner so it wld be a financial strain for me to stay at home...

Ask your supervisor, is part time an option? can you work from home for a portion of your work time?

Hi cc_RN-

That's a tough situation. Is it possible for your husband/partner to stay home and care for the kids during the day while you are working? Since you are the breadwinner, can he change jobs and work alternate shift? Maybe you can overlap shifts, and hire a nanny? I understand the dilemma you are in. It's a difficult one. I hope you can find a comfortable solution!

Yes, I am a supervisor. No, my husband has a very high position at his job, plus he wrks for close family friends so he has a lot of responsibility and adjusting his sched is not an option :-/

I work as a PHN at 2locations at my job, so me going p/t will be very difficult since I have to cover 2 separate locales and am a supervisor. However, it never hurts to ask my boss...even still I wld need a nanny or sitter while I am at wrk. I wld rather have that but have no one I can trust in my area (only been here 1yr) to care for my newborn in my home while I am not present.
