PT, RN, OT, SLP compare/contrast..

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

So I'm trying to get a NEW 2016 comparison of the masters/dr degree programs and other similar pay programs..

Physical Therapy

Registered Nurse

Nurse Practitioner

Occupational Therapy

SPEECH pathology

Dental Hygienist

Which would you pick and why /Not pick and why?

Which has better potential for benefits + salary

Which career has jobs available for new grade

Which career is not over saturated

Which makes more money? (yes, when you're paying out the Wazoo for a career the money matters, unfortunately)

Which career would you rather be doing 🤔😉

Thanks!!

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

As this is a nursing site, will move to prenursing

I'm pursuing a RN degree because that is my dream/passion.

Specializes in NICU.

Why does this sound like you have a list of healthcare careers and expect us to research the pros and cons for each career and report back to you. We can't make a career choice for you. You need to do your own research for yourself to decide which path to go down. While we may interact with some of these careers (excluding dental hygienist) we have only the basic knowledge of the pros, cons, and role of each job. We truly do not know what it is like to work in those jobs on a daily basis. In addition, each of those jobs varies depending on the setting. A SLP role is different in a nursing home than it is in a outpatient clinic or NICU. Same for PT/OT in a nursing home setting vs a clinic or children's hospital.
