UK psych nurse wants to work US

Can anyone tell me if there are any states where my UK and Republic of Ireland registration is recognised, I have been practising for 15 years and want to move to US, I was in New York for 4 months last year but was told that New York did not recognise my qualification in Mental Health Nursing.

Have you tried contacting the State licensing agency? I think the best thing you could do is to contact them directly. Unfortunately, without the required hours in peds/maternal health, as well as adult med-surg, both the US and Canada will not accept your training, unless you did the bridge program that was offered in the past in the UK. You will be required to make up the missing hours before being permitted to sit for the NCLEX exam, as well as getting approved for the Visa Screen Certificate.

Australian nurses also have the same problem that wish to work in the US.

New York actually uses CGFNS for the credentials verification, and CGFNS

will not sign off on your documents without the approved hours.
