Hello all - I'm new here, just graduated nursing school in May and will be taking the NCLEX-RN soon. I made this account two years ago, however. So this is the situation - I really want to go into psychiatric nursing and always have desired that specialty. I have been recovered from my issues with depression and such for years. I haven't engaged in any SI (self injury) or destructive behaviors for so long I am starting to forget about them. But! - I have some faded, sort of pale self harm scars on my forearms. Most people never notice them, but I worry someone will upon employment.
I read one thread on this topic, but am still unsure what I should do. I have managed my issues very well and the scars are so faded (6 to 7 year-old scars) that I wonder if I should just wear short sleeves regardless. On the other hand, would it be better to never wear short sleeves? Two opposite ideas, with possibly great rationales either way. Any suggestions? ? I know employers might be wary of the marks.
Thank you!

Wear long sleeves to your interviews. I've never had an employer ask whether I had a history of self-injurious behavior, and I have scars from a feisty cat who likes to scratch and bite.
