PSYCH NP at UF

I'm thinking of applying to UF's PSYCH-NP program. Looking for info re: clinicals, hours, the overall program. Attended UNC-W, but had to relocate.

I'm attending UF's ABSN program now, with intentions of going on to the NP program as well (possibly even psych!). This is what I know so far:

Fall 2008 is the last year they will be offering any NP programs at the Master's level (currently a 54 hour program), and it will be full-time only. As of Fall 2009, they will offer all NP programs at the DNP level only. The full-time program is 3 days per week (including clinicals).

I hope someone else has more for you--that's all I know.

WOW!

What will those people who work do? They tried to do that last year. Do you know if it is difficult to get in the program? I have yet to take the GRE.

I had been looking at USF, but they do not offer the group/individual therapy didactic.

Hi Jeeps2.

I asked that same question--about working (I want tuition reimbursement). My clinical instructor said that those people usually work Fri-Sat-Sun. I don't think I can go to school and work FT (and have a husband and kids). However, until very recently, the MSN was going to be phased out as of Fall 2007, and offer a FT & PT program. I'm just hoping they decide to keep the PT after all.

As far as the competitiveness, I can tell you that UF also has a campus in Jacksonville (which is where I am). This campus (because it is not Gville) is less competitive than the main Gainesville campus. I'm not sure of the number of accepted students vs. number of applications submitted though.

I'm in brevard and its 2 hours to JAX. I was going to apply to UNC-CH, but my husband retired from the military. They have a program close to UF. A lot of research assistant opportunities. Let me know if you hear anything else.
