psych cover letter!?

A nursing school friend of mine has let me know about an opening at her job in the psych ED. She told me to get my cover letter and resume ready and she will provide me with her supervisor's address to mail in my materials. How does this sound for my cover letter?

I am a Registered Nurse and recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bachelor College. I discovered my passion for psychiatric nursing while attending Community College where I spent a clinical rotation on an adult inpatient psychiatric unit. I sincerely enjoy working with this population because I find it fascinating. My patience, compassion, and ability to maintain a calm demeanor will be helpful while I pursue this specialty.

Side note.. I am PALS certified and it is listed on my resume. Should I remove it since it is not applicable to psych? I don't want to raise any red flags as to why I am PALS certified when I am applying for an adult care position. I don't want them seeing that and thinking "she's not serious about psych nursing"

I do love peds and thats where I eventually want to end up, but I loved my psych rotation too.
