Providence St. Peter Interview to Hire Time & Culture Thete

Published

How long does it usually take from in-person interview to offer of employment at Providence St. Peter Hospital, Olympia, WA? I was instructed that I would next hear from the recruiter if an offer of employment (in a contract) was made, but it has already been a week and I have not heard from anyone.

Also, what is the current culture like there? I have applied for an IV Therapy position; however, I could float (if they were interested) occasionally to ICU if needed. But, of course, I'm interested in the culture throughout the hospital, not just in these two areas alone.

How are you?

Did you pursue this? How was it?

There are alot of nice RNs there it seems; however, my experience for my shift in my dept has been the worst of my life: Verbally abusive senior nurse continues in role and is heavily relied on by management, despite multiple complaints about her. The shift I applied for (days) continues to be given to others through round-about means. I am not receiving the training I was led to believe I would. Consequently, I continue to look elsewhere for employment. Additionally, I am shocked by how catty staff in my dept can be. It was not an experience I had in this particular dept before, at a different hospital of course.

I do not care for Providence. The system is impersonal in general. I will make every effort possible to not be employed by them in the future.

Side notes to ICU nurses: you cannot get a central line right away when you need one so PIVs are used when they shouldn't be; there are no iStats; there are no levels; lifts are not available in every room; all I see the ICU RNs using for turns are pillows; you don't draw your own ABGs. I don't care for the pressure set ups (cvp, art lines) - they look time consuming to level/cheap. You've got your typical ***y ICU nurses; however, there seem to be fewer than in most ICUs.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. How are you now? Did you decide to transfer to another area or facility or apply somewhere?

I hope you didn't sign any contract..

Thank you for sharing your experience. This will be a heads up for everyone including myself.I hope this will be addressed. I hope you will find a good place to work where people are supportive and happy. It is something we can look forward to no matter how busy and tiring our job is.

Take care and thank you!

I look back to yesterday and wonder how I could be so negative! On the bright side, our manager is a genuine caring person & 99% of the staff are super nice. I would definitely follow the manager and/or work with any of these colleagues anywhere.

Glad to hear from you again..She is just a dot in the paper then since majority of the staff are great.

How is the training there or the orientation?

Super happy to hear you focus more on the best side of the situation.

Take care!
