Hello, just starting a forum for Providence RN Residency Program - August 2025 Cohort, I currently work at a Providence hospital and got the email saying that internal applications opened 5/30 and external opens 6/6. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you
I'm a little nervous because I don't have CNA experience and I've noticed a lot of hospitals prefer that for their new hire RN's. I worked at a PT clinic for 2 years and volunteered at UCLA hospital in the nephrology department. Do you guys think that might be okay? I'm thinking ortho or med surge

My friend I have worked 2 years for providence as a CNA (not currently so not internal) and have had other medical and direct patient care experience.
None of that comforts me at all. It's insanely competitive to be a new grad right now. You can be an amazing candidate but you're still competing against maybe hundreds of other solid candidates. at this point it's a matter of pulling your name out of a hat.
that said plenty of new grads have minimal to no prior patient care experience. Just hope you win the luck of the draw and breathe if you don't.

I don't have any CNA experience and was able to get a job, I think they focus more on the interview more than previous experiences, that is why I really like providence
