Hi everyone,
Grateful recovering alcohol and opiate addict here. I've recently been granted RN licensure reinstatement with TPAPN stipulations. I live in Downtown Dallas but willing to drive if there are any prospective hospitals/institutions that hire TPAPN nurses. Full disclosure: I diverted narcotics and was fired on a travel nurse assignment. I've been sober for 4 years and voluntarily tested through RecoveryTrek and sent results to TBON until I could afford representation to apply for reinstatement. At long last that day has come and I couldn't be more grateful! I attend meetings, have a sponsor, and an addiction therapist but am striking out everywhere I apply due to the past activity on my license and stipulations. many help would be appreciated! I love DFW but willing to move anywhere in Texas at this point. thank you friends for any insight.

Dialysis is usually very recovery friendly. No narcotics in house. Give it a thought

I second dialysis nursing. No controlled substances are administered so it's an area of nursing more likely to be recovery friendly.
Also consider looking for positions with no med administration as part of the job requirements. Most outpatient clinic positions wouldn't be administering narcotics, telephone nurse on line positions or something else totally away from bedside like nurse navigator or insurance company claims review come to mind though I am sure there are other possibilities out there.
Fortunately Dallas is a large market so hopefully that makes expanding your job search a little easier than if you lived in a more rural area.
Congratulations on your continued sobriety and best of luck in your job search!

I second dialysis nursing. They hired me quickly even after hearing about my restrictions. I now work as a wound care nurse in a LTC facility still under restrictions. Good luck to you!
