Promoting Interoperability - who does it at your facility?

Hello. I have now been in informatics for a year now. Three months in to this new position I was handed over Promoting Interoperability for my facility. This has been a complete whirlwind, I'm constantly in a state of confusion. I am always finding out something new and I never feel like I am ever going to know everything that is part of it. The person who previously was responsible for this only touched the surface of what this entails. I was really only shown how to run the PI reports for eprescribe, qpdmp, sending/receiving, and patient portal access. I had no idea what promoting Interoperability was. I didn't know what to ask. I was given a 15 minute run down of running those reports and that was the only information I got about this responsibility when it was handed to me. Nothing about what all goes in to a submission, especially the public health attestations. Syndromic surveillance... huh, what is that??? Being responsible for this has proven to be a huge responsibility due to its large impact on the organization, and it stresses me out. At this point I feel it was negligent to put this on someone new to the informatics role that was freshly beginning to build the foundation of their job.

Who at your facility manages promoting Interoperability and is responsible for your annual submissions? What are your thoughts on this situation?

I know this is a >month old post, but just seeing this. At my facility, this is shared between Informatics and Quality. Informatics provides the reports and the data while Quality does the attestations. I really have minimal involvement in this, but one of our informatics managers has been coordinating with the Quality Departments from the different sites.

I think it's pretty bad that they handed it to you to navigate without precepting or coaching. This is pretty important stuff. They should have paid a consultant IMOH.
