I am in the process of trying to get registered as a mental health nurse in alberta.
CPRNA have recieved the transcript from the Nursing Midwifery Council (UK) but now they require the course syllabus.
I have explained that I qualified in 1995 - an time when we had to hand write essays! and the University does not now offer the course, nor holds a copy of the learning outcomes. This also applies to the NMC.
Soooooo I have been told my registration will be put on hold until they recieve such info!
I have been offered a job in Alberta!
Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone happen to have a copy of the syllabus/earning outcomes of Project 2000 (UK) Mental Health???
What can i do???

Moved to the Nurse registration forum.
I am not sure if there is anything you can do. I know my university only holds stuff for 10 years. Try putting something in writing to the college and ask what else you can do when these things are no longer available

If you contact the nmc they should have copies of transcripts for that time. It would be a generalised one and not directly from your university but it may help you
This may help you

This may help
She does say that the college has a copy of transcripts offered by NMC but the college requires a course description/syllabus which is where the issue is coming into play
The nmc can provide that but it will only be an overview of what they required at the time to register
Hi,
thanks for the replies.
The transcript provided by the NMC is quite comprehensive and gives a brake down of the hours per subject. However, CPRNA have requested a copy of the content of each subject or at least the learning outcomes.
If this can not be provided CRPNA will refuse registration!!
I feel that this is a little over the top, I mean I did not have this problem for NZ, Australia or even the dreaded Ontario.
I am being unreasonable by saying that not many persons keep learning outcomes for 20 years?? does this mean if you have nursed for many years you can not relocate to Alberta?? or have Ijust been unluckly to have a very strict case manager??
ALso if any one knows where i can get a copy of any project 2000 (mental health branch) syllabus then a BIG thanks will be given.
What university did you go to? I would go back to them and ask for a breakdown of the course. My husband is a lecturer and I just asked and he said they should have something that give you information on what you had to achieve to gain the qualification. Go through to registry at the university they may be able to help you. Otherwise I am stumped on that one but can't believe no one from your training time has not attempted to register in Alberta. I would go back to your case manager or go to someone higher and speak to them.
Good luck
