  1. Did you end up relocating to Oklahoma? The cost of living isn’t bad at all
  2. You have every right to be skeptical of the vaccine. I read something about how it could cause infertility in young women! also everyone keeps saying “do your research”....there isn’t much data over this vaccine and at this point everyone is just guessing
  3. I’ve worked in Med-Surg, Stepdown, corrections, home health, Case management,& clinic since I’ve been a nurse. I enjoyed MS as it taught me so much as a new grad, but I grew tired of the rat race and went to Stepdown. I love stepdown. The drips etc, I’m here for it. I do find myself growing bored and was about to transfer to ER, then Covid hit. So I’ll continue with Stepdown for now. Correctional nursing was another one of my favs. There is so much autonomy there
  4. I would quit! Put yourself and your family first.
  5. Oklahoma is over saturated, unless you want to work rural
  6. Why was a new grad hired in a float position in the first place??? That is an entire problem in itself.
  7. And I’ve seen some pretty bad mistakes happen with these new grads in the ICU and ER. And they burn out very fast. 1-2 years & they are looking for something else
  8. Find another job immediately! I don’t think i would even give a 2 weeks notice.
  9. Look into Chronic Care Case Management with local hospitals or community health. Population health management is becoming the next big thing
  10. I completely understand where you are coming from. In upper management at my place of employment, there is no diversity at all!
  11. And the board of nursing would say “ she shouldn’t have accepted the unsafe assignment”.
  12. Everyone that’s saying that they would’ve just kept their mouth shut, what if something happened while she had that unsafe assignment? Do you think the hospital would stick up for her? Do you think her coworkers would stick up for her?? Would HCA back her in front of the board of nursing???
  13. She stood up for herself! Go Julie because they will continue to do it, and nothing will change until we start calling them out!
  14. 11 months on orientation?
  15. Congrats on breastfeeding. Speak with the lactation nurse at your job and see if she can set up a pumping room for you. They have to provide it
  16. Your first job wasn’t Med Surg..that was Stepdown or Mini Icu. Glad you found something else
  17. Work a full time job and then obtain a agency job and pick up shifts with the agency. You will make more money and your schedule will be more flexible
  18. True!!! You hit the nail on the head. They always put the difficult patients who have been rude to the other staff or aggressive towards the staff with the black nurses. And if the families are tough to deal with, assign to the black nurses. Because we stand up for ourselves and won't allow someone to mistreat us but then we are labeled🤷🏿*♀️
  19. You should try a surgery center.
  20. Typical textbook nursing reply.🙄
  21. Easy it's because you are able to give one on one care
  22. Well when you've already paid for hotels & booked flights months in advance to then find out 30 days before your vacation is denied, i see why many would quit
  23. In the South, you will see many minorities in bedside positions. To all the ones saying i work at a diverse facility, how many minorities are in higher management? And I'm not referring to just charge nurse positions. I have seen more women of color in higher management positions up North, west and east coast and this is why I'm ready to move from the south. Racism is alive & thriving!
  24. Exactly! At my hospital there are no nurses of color in management
  25. I've seen it happen a thousand times. Why do people automatically think minorities are playing "the race card" when we speak of inequalities!
