Exactly. I don't know what the doctors who performed the IVF were thinking....is this some kind of bizarre experiement just to see what will happen? Does anyone really think it's healthy to go against...
:chuckle Gotta love those frontal lobe insults! Aneurysms are tricky to manage and if you don't see them everyday, it's easy to confuse pre-op and post-op treatment. The key to remembering vasospasm...

I know plenty of nurses that started out in and stayed in peds, later branching out as pediatric NPs, neonatal transport, etc., and they wouldn't do anything else. I say trust your gut instincts and...
Okay, I'm a little confused, because I would think they wanted her SBP If that patient were mine, I would be far more concerned about rupture or re-bleed than vasospasm. Did she get a stat head CT...
I find this thread very interesting, because as an ICU nurse, I've had the opposite experience with DNRs. Most of the time we do far more that the patient ever wanted, even if it's completely futile....
Jackie - I'm very sorry that happened to your husband (all of it) and I absolutely agree that makeshift restraint was terribly inappropriate and I'm quite sure in violation of the hospital restraint...

I had a medicine patient one time that was a DNI. Of course she went straight down the tubes respiratory-wise and I think we wasted a tremendous amount of time getting gasses on her. Her pH continued...

This is something I've considered heavily as opposed to a MSN. A good friend of mine is a healthcare defense attorney and I've helped her on several cases. I think the work is very interesting and I'm...

A "scared straight" program for seniors... All kidding aside, we'd have to send their families with them and have them say "I NEVER WANT TO BE IN THIS CONDITION." I've had so many elderly trauma...
My DH has his degree in Architecture, but he loves to build, so he currently works for a custom homebuilder, managing custom home projects in the $400K to $2 million
Well for one, you stated more than once that you feel families are coerced into donation and that representatives of the OPO essentially badger people into consenting. This is not the case at all, and...
Whoa NurseGuy - let's slow down and get off the slippery slope here. First of all, I agree with you that the process should remain completely voluntary. I'm not advocating that it become a mandated...
I really don't understand this comment. It is highly unlikely that harvesting organs without consent will ever become mandatory. Are you even aware how few deaths actually result in viable donors? It...
