Chamberlain College of Nursing - Addison

Lisa, Have you ever applied for a scholarship by chance? Do you know if it's hard to do?

Hi Lisa, I checked my credit and it's not that great. I attempted to see if I could get a private loan through Sallie Mae and I got declined. They said I would need a co-signer. Problem is, I don't know of anyone to co-sign at this time. Can I ask how you did it? Did you have to get a private loan? If so, where did you decide to go through? Jen

LisaWantsBSN: I was really hoping to get into the Feb 2011 class also. I am hearing rumors of them being pretty full though...? Maybe I will see you in there if all goes well for me? I do currently have a loan with Sallie Mae for an online university I went to for a short period of time that I have deferred because I'm not working. I don't know how much you know about Sallie Mae, but if I already owe them like $6,000 some dollars, will they loan me more? Plus, I don't know how my credit is at this time. I filled out my FAFSA stuff yesterday, so I guess in five days I will get a hold of a financial aid advisor at Chamberlain and see what I can do. I did take the Hesi exam, and that was another concern of mine, I only got a 78% on that. My GPA is a 3.0. What are your thoughts on all of this?

Lucky3492: By the way, good luck on your finals at your current school! Be more positive, from what I read in your post, I don't see a reason why you would not have a really good chance at getting into Chamberlain, if that's what you want. I know what you mean by just wanting to hear from the advisor that you have a good chance at getting accepted, or you will get in! I am just dying to hear anything close to that from the advisor I'm working with!

Lucky3492: I would say the best way to study for the Hesi admissions exam at Chamberlain would be to buy the study book online. It helped me a lot. As many pre-req classes that you can take at a community college, or anywhere that's somewhat cheaper, I would take advantage of that. Chamberlain seems like a wonderful college, don't get me wrong, however, in this kind of economy we all need to save a buck!

LisaWantsBSN: Thanks for the info. So I don't have a degree yet, therefore, I will get some kind of help from FAFSA? How do I know if I will get enough in government loans to cover enough of my schooling? I'm not working right now, so I know my income wouldn't be considered to be too much, and I am a single mom. I don't know if that even plays a part in to how much help I would get or not...? What if I got turned down for private loans? Then I couldn't go to school at all if I get accepted? That would really be depressing! I hope that does not happen... How long have you been going to Chamberlain?

I was also wondering, if I do end up getting accepted to Chamberlain, does anyone know how the financial aid aspect works? Doesn't FAFSA only cover so much? How hard is it to get a student loan from Chamberlain???

Well, in Math, I only got a 72% and in English I did well, over 80% I believe. I'm just worried because I really want to get accepted and do well. Being a nurse has always been my dream. You got a 97%? You must be really smart. I envy you!

I retook my A2 Admissions Exam and I got a 78%. Was hoping for at least an 80%, but I did what I could, I tried my hardest. What are my chances of getting in?

Chamberlain College of Nursing - Addison

Hello all! I went today to turn in all of the information needed to apply at the Addison, Illinois location. I met with advisor Josh Ryan. My GPA is 3.0, which I've heard is decent. ("B" average.) I am a bit concerned though because I took the Hesi A2 Exam and I only scored a 75% which I think, if I'm correct, is the lowest score you can get to even be considered. I did poorly on the Bio, Chem, and A&P. I bought the study book and studied my butt off. I was pretty disapointed to get that low of a score. Honestly, do I even have a chance...??? Should I attempt to retake it? Any advice would be totally appreciated. Thanks in advance.
