  1. I missed 3, so I got a 94%. I never expected to get an A, so it's going much better than I thought! I guess I just need to relax and trust my abilities. Thanks for asking!
  2. Medical Telemetry

You're welcome! Did you get the job?
  3. Thanks. I'll be happy if I get a B, but I'm always striving for an A. I'm doing fine. We'll see how I do on the midterm later today. LOL
  4. I used childhood obesity to tie in with diabetes for my project, too. Even if you're focusing on adults, obesity is the biggest risk factor for type 2 diabetes, so focusing on lowering the obesity rate to deal with the diabetes epidemic seems the bes...
  5. Not fair attitude

I would be nervous about floating. Two hospitals I worked at wouldn't let new grads float until they had been there a year. Depending on where they float you to, it could be unsafe. I'd talk to your manager for sure. She may be violating policy.
  6. Medical Telemetry

That made me laugh! I used to get so mad at the nurses! You have no idea how many times I would call at 3am to tell a nurse a pt was in VTach, only to be told "he's brushing his teeth." It happened every night with every nurse. Seriously?! Everyone o...
  7. Medical Telemetry

I was a telemetry tech before I went to nursing school. I earned a certificate in EKG at a community college to learn how to read rhythms and 12-lead EKGs. I suggest you get a book like ECG Interpretation Made Incredibly Easy to learn the basics, or ...
  8. I'm at the end of week 3 in the Capstone course, too. I'm also kinda confused about the final project and feeling burned out. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. We're almost done! Thinking about the finish line is all that's getting me t...
  9. Sorry. This might be a long story. I graduated with an ADN in 2006. I immediately got my dream job at a pediatric hospital. Due to family problems (very sick relative, along with domestic violence issues), the 2 - 3 hour commute each way became too m...
  10. I did NR 351, Soc, and HIST 410 my first session, and I was able to earn A's in all three courses. It IS a lot of work, and if you have a full time job and kids, it might be too much, but then again, it may not. Those two classes are pretty tame. Goo...
  11. I don't see what the big deal is. We had to do that, too. We were given the option of wearing bathing suits or shorts and t-shirts, whichever made us more comfortable. We used real soap and water, and we also had to brush each other's teeth, comb eac...
  12. I'm finishing my second term this week (I took NR351, SOCS350, and history last term; MATH221 (stats) and NR361 (informatics) this term). I'm rocking a 4.0, which makes me very happy. Stats isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Just make sure you wa...
  13. associate's degree continuing to bachelor's degree

I'm enrolled in Chamberlain College of Nursing's online RN-BSN program. It's all online, based in St. Louis, like the physical school. It's a private school. Doesn't matter what state you're in.
  14. Examples of times you have been bullied in nursing profession

What a jerk! I'm glad you stood up to him. Why do people have to be like that?
  15. Examples of times you have been bullied in nursing profession

When I was in nursing school, i worked as a CNA in a hospital. There was a nurse on my unit who was a control freak. She was charge nurse one day, and she assigned a 30-something year old woman being admitted with chest pain to one of the nurses. I w...
  16. Should I tell the hiring manager??

Um, you're in for a shock , but no one seems to care about those pesky labor laws. You are definitely not guaranteed that you'll ever get a break, either to eat or to pee. I know we should fight and change it, but it seems to be just part of nursing....
  17. associate's degree continuing to bachelor's degree

I'm enrolled in an online RN-BSN program now. All my nursing credits transferred. It supposedly takes 9 - 12 months.
  18. Sickle cell

I don't think the SC causes the itching. I'm thinking it's because that is what they've been given before, not only for the itching, but for the added pain relief. Also, perhaps the continuous exposure to the narcs makes the itching more prevalent or...
  19. So grateful to have a job but I'm hating it =(

Oh, I loved that book! My first RN job gave all the new RN residents a copy. To the OP: Do you study on your own time? Do you re-read your textbooks or the policies and procedures from your unit/hospital (to possibly save your license or avoid losin...
  20. Working during nursing school

It's true. In this job market, many hospitals will only hire internally. I would like to add this: some hospitals will not hire you back if you quit, even on good terms. I left the hospital I worked at as a CNA during my last semester of nursing scho...
  21. Nurses and incontinence

That can indeed cause incontinence. Funny, isn't it? OK, not really, but you'd think our bladders would get stronger from that "training," not weaker. lol Do whatever you can to go when you gotta go. You gotta take care of yourself, or you won't be ...
  22. HELP whats involved in pre employment exam as RN???

Are you signed up with Monster and CareerBuilder? You can also look on craigslist (but be careful that you don't get scammed). If there are any job fairs sponsored by nursing publications or organizations, you should try to attend. Are you able to re...
  23. HELP whats involved in pre employment exam as RN???

I have experience, and I'm having a heck of a time finding a job (I've had offers from agencies, but I declined them, because they weren't exactly what I was looking for - many agencies are quite dishonest until they start offering assignments and I ...
  24. Sickle cell

Wow. I can't imagine being so bold as to lie about something like that. That's ridiculous. All sickle cell patients have at least some sickled cells in their blood. Don't the fakers know how easy that would be to check? Are they that shameless? Wow. ...
  25. Sickle cell

I agree. They have usually dealt with it for so long, they probably know to ask for Benadryl. I'm sure other chronic pain sufferers know that, too, but maybe the OP hasn't had any patients like that? I read that Phenergan can cause dehydration, so th...
