Any moron who is too stupid to get his own clipboard from his own trolley and uses the word "magic" deserves for you to develop a "magic" form of "deafness". Ignore the moron, he can get his own...

It's such co-operation among teams that make the OR work. A few bad apples cause a lot of problems. I think that the time you're doing the tech course would be better off doing a nursing course, but...

It makes it really hard when you're always being shifted around. When I started in theatres, I was an Enrolled nurse (like a LPN) and pure scout(circulator) things are a bit different here... however,...
I ride, I've come off once, but here in Australia all riders wear helmets by law and do a safety course to both get a learner licence and a provisional licence, so our riders are mostly ok. The car...

One bad ORT. Your name says it all, really. One really, crappy, bad ORT. Your attitude speaks louder than words, you obviously don't work as part of the closely knit team that to me makes the OR the...
G'day All, Sounds really interesting. Does anyone know how different Australian and UK Perioperative nursing is (scrub/scout) and if there are any particularly good places in Wales to look for theatre...
G'day All, I was wondering how different Australian and UK qualifications were in terms of the NMC requirements, our nursing council seems to feel that they are similar, and states that they accept UK...

Don't I wish we had it under control. We have anaesthetic technicians gradually increasing in numbers, some of our managers are not nurses, and more and more enrolled nurses (?LPN?) in the operating...
I didn't suggest that. I was an Enrolled Nurse for 9 years, and know that RN's aren't the be all and end all. This opinion has been reinforced now that I am one. We can be quite full of ourselves.
I should hope not... things get hard enough in theatres without attitudes like that in a team. If ST is so good, why bother becoming an RN? Good luck with your studies,
G'day All, Way to go Kitty, I have to agree with all you've just said. Nursing and OR have little to do with each other, but it is the way that you learn to think, and the extra critical judgement and...
I've done my paper, I'd be happy to email it to any interested parties... It was very interesting reading some of the worldwide literature on the subject. Thanks to all those who contributed to this...
G'day Ayndim, The only silly questions are those that don't get asked. Having said that, check out the "what's up with RN's who don't scrub" thread for some interesting discussion on what we do. It's...

A toiletry bag for those times you have a REALLY grotty day, do you want to take it home or shower after you take those bloody scrubs off? Clean cloth caps (as colourful as I can find..) spare pens,...
G'day All, Don't waste your money on new glasses, we don't get paid enough... get yourself a good pair of goggles that fit comfortably over your glasses, or get used to the masks with an integral...
Hey Bbear, as these forums are nice enough to email us the full text of entries when telling us that something new is on a thread we are watching, I was fortunate enough to read your original entry....
Hey LPN2B, I was an enrolled nurse for 9 years before registering, an I STILL don't know what I want to do with my life.... take your experiences as they come, and use what you have as a foundation to...
Hi All, As I've said on other forums, here in Australia we don't have scrub techs. Only RN's scrub, as they are the SENIOR role responsible for the OR, and the scout, or circulating nurse is the...
