Needing encouragement, trying to get past being fired a few years ago.....
Follow your but feeling and make it happen. Your self esteem is down after all your personal and professional problems, avoid the pain , but recognize it. Be happy girl. They might make you their problem, but don't make yourself part of them. Let them live there own illusive self gratification. Live, laugh, and be happy. God bless.

What career did you have before nursing?
I did phlebotomy for 11 years in hospital settings and plasma centers. 3 years of cna and youth service worker. I got into a cna position by coincidence as a coworker was trying to help me get better pay and recommended me to her employee. Went from youth service worker (counselor) into cna! It never dwell on me this position ever existed!!!! Anywho, I learned to care for my geriatric population and had a difficult time leaving them behind. I went into nursing with the idea of caring for the emotional, physical, spiritual, and environmental surroundings of people I care for. I was 35 years old when I graduated from the nursing program; with four kids and a supporting husband :) it took me 4 years; ill confess it wasn't easy, but my godly it was all worth it!!!! :)

How do you get thicker skin?
I have this tech that has an attitude with me; she taps on the desk and keeps tapping until the pt chart is given to her to transport a pt to the floor. Yes, I take my time on purpose. She gives me the ugly eye when she talks to me and I just look at her in the eyes, I passively let her know she doesn't intimate me. I don't let people issues of me, be my issues. I have a responsibility with my pts and my family. Bringing a check home is of my interest , she's that last one I care for at the end of my shift, after that, I forget about her.

Need advice! Jeopardizing my license? Violation of hospital policy.
Though young in the nursing field, you are wise, good job.

Hypothetical question
Just be honest with them when you do get the offer, your family should always come first. Nothing wrong, I've always seen these types of situations happen. Congrats!!!

Stubborn Docs, New Docs
Documentation to the dot is essential.I document everything the doctor verbalizes. When the Dr ignores a nursing questions I type: Dr "..." notified of pts vital signs, o2 saturations being "_ "" , or pain status...etc. NO MEDICAL ORDERS GIVEN AT THIS TIME. Cover yourself cause when it boils down to it,they will throw you under the bus.

I need help and a little info...
Have you considered phlebotomy? It's an upgrade in position and pays more; also, you can do it at a quicker pase and cost less as far as tuition goes. I did it through nursing school , I worked part time. It payer my bills and got me through school. Good luck!!!

Fired within 90 days... advice?
Just put it in your resume and application, its a job history document. They will call them, many times they don't, to verify that u worked there. Legally, that's all they can ask: from what month/date/year to when u worked for them. Don't worry, be honest about where u worked. Don't mention your anxiety , just that u r motivated to learn and develop ur new skills. Good luck :)

Knowing the worst and not saying a word.
Amazing!!! Your life experience made me cry :*)

Knowing the worst and not saying a word.
I was a juvenile counselor looking for a new career, came across a cna position. Not knowing what it entailed , though eager for a new professional adventure, I accepted the position. Tested out for certification and started work a week later .my first patient to help take care of was Mrs Emma, the last member in her family, no kids, no one left by her side. I started my shift and saw her in a fetal position, I covered her with a warm blanket and massaged her hands with lotion while wetting her lips with water. She was passing away. I asked the nurse in charge if I could stay by her side, she let me. I stayed with her , she passed away during my shift...warm, while I held her hands. She was the reason I decided to earn an RN degree .

Your body did what?!?
male jumped off his roof into his back yard vegetable garden and landed ( what a coincidence eh) on one of his eggplants; with his rear!!!!! Yeap, he didn't stand with a straight face while in ed...we were amazed at the xray image, it was stuck up so high, it needed a surgical procedure. ouch!!!!

New Grad Terrors
I understand what u r going through, after two years of nursing, I still get nervous. I go to sleep thinking and wondering if I missed anything and wake up thinking of the things I missed not documenting.... that's only on critical patients. Otherwise, I sleep tight and cozy....anxiety should mellow down....yes, I've lost hair due to this anxiety but growing some more. ..BTW, getting ny hair do tomorrow :)

Question re: patient handoff/shift change
Op, I was not aware of the situation in experience. I got off work and left work with a situation as you mentioned here . I didn't mean to offend you as though I understand my words were harsh. Don't mean any harm. Have a nice day and again, please don't take offense....I'd was tired and grumpy . I take it back if I could.

Question re: patient handoff/shift change
The social psych and personality theories ? Behavior? She didnt think it was right??? !!! Actions are more than words and obviously express the notion of doing something wrong as she had given that pt report off to the night shift and hence did not have to get up and check on the pt...because she had to finish documenting and leave. All I get from this is a guilt trip thinking a possible "getting in trouble" verbal conversation. Don't take it wrong OP , I don't mean harm, I am a patient advocate just like you . These situations are not random and it hurts me in the GUTT. GOOD LUCK IN YOUR FUTURE ENDEAVORS :)
