  1. Albuteril should be given in an acute asthma attack to dilate the bronchiols via nebulizer with 100 pepercent O2 piped in. The steriod should never be given to relieve an acute attack...that is used for everyday use. O2 is not a good answer cause the airway is closed down and you need to open it first.
  2. You will be able to attract women just fine. As a woman I look at how you treat others, if you have a good relationship with the female members of your family, and if your an honest person. What you do for a living makes no difference. You should look for a woman who wants to build a life with you.
  3. I would try Excelsior College..:twocents:
  4. Well this did happen to me, but instead of going to emerg. I went to my family doctor and this is what he did. He held my hand and he said "I am so sorry for the loss of your baby". It hurt like hell physically and emotionally and it didn't matter to him that I miscarried in my third month. When I was leaving his office, he gave me a hug. Simple yet effective.
  5. @shanfuturenurse: oh thanks for that I didn't realize it was a homework question for other people.
  6. And before someone posts...why are you no longer a respiratory therapist..my answer is because while working as a respiratory therapist (which was great) I began to see what a nurse does and I thought THAT IS WHAT I REALLY WANT TO DO FOR THE REST OF MY WORKING LIFE...
  7. Why yes and no. I am a former respiratory therapist so lungs I know.....its just the rest of the body I need to learn about.
  8. Albuterol( a bronchodilator) is a drug which dilates the bronchial tubes and relaxes the smooth muscle. It helps for bronchitis and emphysema only if there is a a spasm component to the disease. It does not in any way treat the symptoms of bronchitis and emphysema better than asthma. Albuterol is indicated forthe treatment of asthma
  9. Well my laptop is way to heavy to be carting it around (I tried and it was hard). Personally I plan on getting a net book. I also use my smart phone for some tings but i wear glasses and the screen just isn't large enough for me (mostly I load my power point flashcards to my smartphone)
  10. Go to the new balance store.
  11. it is unfortunate but a lot of Universities are no longer accepting repeats...even if the community college you went to required you to repeat a class only because it had been over 5 years since you last took the course. Find another school that does accept repeat courses

I haven't started my nursing program as of yet; but for work i bring nice healthy lunches in my zojirushi bento box (soup, rice, meat, and warm veggies...all nice and hot). Always hot n' fresh food and nothing from a box for me. I usually bring water in my stainless steel water bottle (my city has gone green) and i bring homemade coffee in my thermos (very small thermos...only fits 1.5cups).:)
  13. I never had the problem of over studying. When i was in high school though I had a very bad habit of over cramming at the last minute. I always did well but it caused me an extreme amount of stress and I wasn't always concrete in my answers. Then I learned how to study every day, even if i didn't have a test in the near future. I found that when i studied and read my notes every day, i didn't have to study as much per day and the night before an exam became a rest day...which took away my test anxiety in ways i can't even begin to tell you. It really works! Now when i take an exam all i bring is my trusty pencil and eraser while everyone else brings their notes and textbooks, in addition they are usually studying like bats out of hell.
  14. Okay I have been wait listed for the nursing program at my school of choice since March 2009. I am told I will be starting nursing in either the Winter or Spring 2011 but I am extremely nervous about the course load, so I have decided to begin reading my fundamentals text (the one required by my future program), as well as brush up on my medical terminology and pathophysiology...Am i crazy for doing this?
  15. Memorization and spending a little time with the models helped me the most. I found that spending just 20 minutes with the skeleton, and muscles made me learn the material faster than just looking at pictures (which I did as well). Good luck!! Anatomy and physiology is actually a really fun class. If you love learning about the body you will love this course.
  16. Don't quit...you will regret it in the future. Try and find a job as a waitress or something. What about working in a nursing home? They always hire student nurses as nursing aides as long as they have completed at least one clinical.
  17. find a place that can titer and switch doctors
  18. I have been waiting since March 9th 2009. I am told I will begin my studies Winter or Spring 2011
  19. Well I would do double duty as well. I use a tampon (Ultra absorbency or super plus because I have heavy periods) and then use a light sanitary napkin or pantie liner to control leaks. Then I would bring a spare pair of pants cause even with all of that protection nothing is guaranteed.
  20. My aunt died of pancreatic cancer, I would teach the patient coping skills, encourage them to utilize pain control if they aren't comfortable or disagree with taking drugs like morphine (my aunt was against drug use and didn't want to take her pain med's), encourage them to talk with the Hospital pastor, priest, or whatever religious person from the domination that the patient requires, and maybe if their family cannot handle them passing away at home educate them on the benefits of Hospice.
  21. When I graduate...I want to put a new additon on my house, redo my kitchen and bathrooms, and put up a garage. Then I an LED tv, a plasma tv, a wii, a playstation 3, a new car (Ford flex is my current favourite), I want to save money for retirement, enroll my kid in organized sporting programs, make a movie room out of my basement, and travel....boy would I just love to travel to different countries and experience the culture, food and music of other people....sooo good....fun times!
  22. It sounds like you might have a slight problem with your comprehension. Try going to your campus learning lab. You can get assistance for reading, comprehension, writing, mathematics etc. I always spend time in the lab when I have a class that requires you to submit essays or research papers. I also find that they can help with reading speeds and comprehension and it is completely free.
  23. I don't know about the whole getting called after being on the wait list for four months. That means he was called befor all the students who have been waiting almost two years (like me). I was put on the wait list march 09...I was told i would be in winter 11 or spring 11. (I have a 3.78). So yes there is a long list of people waiting to get in and yes it may take up to 3 yrs...but and here is the silver lining in the whole thing: 1. once you take your net and pass you are in, you just have to wait till you get your letter 2. they are opening up a spring semester to HFCC students (this was once reserved for Henry Ford Hospital employees). Given that I believe the wait won't be as long for you as it has been for others. If i was you though...with that awesome GPA I would switch to Wayne State University; they have not entry test to get in and as long as you have no repeats in you pre-requisits than you will get in for sure. Its a longer program though...but if you are going to wait 3yrs you might as well take their 4yr BSN (unless money is an issue)
  24. Ms Ashley, As long as you have been in the class for a number of weeks it generally doesn't hurt your financial aid...but ask your advisors just to be sure. I think you have to be in the class for at least half the semester for it not to affect you
  25. RE:Re: HfCC waiting list Wow. I'm sorry to hear that. I know how frustrating that may have been seeing as though you had been waiting all that time and were misinformed. Is there anything that you can do as far as getting back on the list? Are you going to try looking into other schools? I think that I am facing a similar problem now and I am not too sure of what to do. I am already well above the 2.7 gpa needed however this semester just has not been a good one for me. I think I may have seriously burnt myself out early on seeing as though I have been going to school for 2 years straight and working full time as well. I took Chemistry and a math class (although I didn't need it but needed it to get my financial aid) and I swear I feel like I am failing BOTH! I am like beyond stressed and unsre of what I should do. I am thinking that I need to drop the math class since I don't need it before I end up lowering my gpa severely but I am scared of it affecting my gpa. Knowing that I could have went and got my LPN makes me wonder if I should consider doing that. I am only a few classes away from being able to apply to other programs and this Chem class away from being placed on the wait list at HFCC. At this point I am unsure of what I want to do. If I were you I would drop any class that would lower my GPA. There are tons of people with GPA's well over 2.7 who are waiting to get in, if your GPA gets lowered I'd bet money that you would be dropped from any wait list. There are so many people on the wait list that I believe that anything is used to free up spots. If doing the LPN is an option go for it but still keep yourself on the wait lists for WC3 and HFCC for nursing because you never know what can happen...
