Career change fears
I have a B.A. degree and am considering going back to school for nursing. Nursing has been something i've wanted to do for a long time but i feel guilty about going back to school and "wasting" my old degree. I know it sounds crazy but I was wondering how many of you career changers out there went through the same thing? Just looking for some other perspectives...thanks!

please help :)
alps2sea, I would suggest CNA if you want a ton of job opportunities. It seems that everywhere you look there is an opening for several CNA's. But, if you were considering going to school for something like your BSN in an accelerated format, be careful. Some schools will only accept prerequisite science credits that are no more than 5 or 10 years old. So, depending on when you earned your undergrad degree, you make have to take those prereqs all over again.

Huge Nursing School Debt!
So, I am planning on enrolling in nursing school this Fall and the program is perfect for me and it is at a well-respected school. There's only one problem: I am an out of state student so my tuition will be three times what it would be for an in-state person. I figured out the costs and it is around $75,000 for the entire program (two full years and two summers). I know I will probably have to take out more than that amount in loans because i will need a way to make ends meet even with a part time job which I plan to have. I just want to know if anyone else is going through a similar situation? What do you think I should do? I even considered waiting a year and living in the state where the school is so i could have resident status and just enroll the next year. I really want to get my career going though, so this is a tough decision. Thanks!

Does a program like this even exist?
MegRN2B, where do you go to school and what is this hospital that you are going to work for? I have been trying to find something like this because the tuition of the school I am planning on attending is rather steep. Although, this is because I am an out of state student:crying2:.

There are definitely programs that the army offers. From what I've seen, they offer money for tuition in addition to a stipend of somewhere around 400 a month. I think they require a certain number of service days per year but it really doesn't seem too bad. If you are worried about having a job after school, I don't think that will be a problem. If you are looking for employment with the army you should be able to obtain employment rather easily.

Nurses with Multiple Antibiotic Allergies
Thanks for the feedback!....I am not so much worried about coming into contact with the antibiotics themselves as much as contracting things that may cause me to need to take antibiotics. I know this may be a stupid concern but I am just not really familiar with the risks that nurses actually have when coming into contact with infectious diseases.

Nurses with Multiple Antibiotic Allergies
Hi everyone, I am 23 years old and thinking about going to nursing school. I have been interested in nursing for a long time, however I feel that my antibiotic allergies may prove to be dangerous for the nursing profession. As of now I am allergic to Cephalosporin (anaphilactic reaction while recieving it intravenously), Penicilin, and I think I may be allergic to Azithromycin (while taking a Z-pak i felt sick to the stomach and itchy). I also have contact dermatitis with certain Bandages and can only use the fabric kind. I guess my question is ..Do you think I should still consider nursing as a career or move on to something else? I'd appreciate any help you can offer me on this decision! Thanks!
