What is a CCE? I'm not familiar with that term

I know at my school the first semester no because they wanted to make sure you really knew simple math. Anything after first semester yes.

They round at my school. Thank God, because I know a lot of my classmates needed just a 74.5 to get out of the class.

You don't feel that you could do both? Maybe one will work with you scheduling wise because both jobs would be beneficial to you.

Well first of all I wish you luck with your semester. The only advice I can give you is to just remain calm to the best of your abilities. Usually if instructors like that see that they get to you, it only makes it worse. And just try and stay positive. Try to find SOMETHING positive about the experience.

That's what I was thinking also. You wouldn't want to start an antibiotic until the C&S has been done. At least that's what I've been taught. But then again as soon as I saw that temp I knew it was an infection.

I would have to agree with secondary prevention because of early detection of the disease, and because of the risk factors

I was wondering the same thing. This summer I will be doing a nurse extern position where I'll move around different floors/dept of hospitals to gain more experience. I'm hoping that if I do that this summer, and next that it will give me some advantage when I graduate Dec. 2010

Well anywhere you move now and days there's going to be crime. I'm in the process of moving to Pearland myself in May, and the neighborhood that I'm relocating to seems pretty nice. The commute really depends on what time you leave in the morning. Genreally it takes me about 15-20 minutes to make it from Broadway (Pearland Town Center) to the med center but I know 288 gets pretty backed up in the morning and about 3-4 in the afternoon is when it starts getting hectic making it back home. But by 7 you should be fine, not too much traffic. Also Almeda runs the same way as 288 and will take you to the Med center, there's just a bunch of stop lights, but probably not as much traffic to deal with.

I really try not to let it even phase me. I just always think that they aren't making my grades for me, and they aren't helping me learn anything. I just really don't have time for the cattiness and childish things that can go on in NS. I would say just try to stay focused on your goal. But trust me, I know how it feels and I'm sorry that they didn't have the decency to be discreet about it.

I would think you would have some sort of clinical. It may just be in lab or in a actual hospital setting. At my school you start clinicals your first semester after you do about 4 weeks of skills labs

Lol well I don't think I have too much to add on to that one. She pretty much covered it all. My main thing is that you need to prepare yourself to see grades that you've probably never seen before in your life. No one prepared me for this. I've always done well in school and expected to do well in nursing school. Don't get me wrong it is obtainable but when you take the first exam, it will sting to see that test result. Just don't give up, know you've done your best, and keep pushing everyday!

I was pretty lucky and picked up most things from lectures so I rarely studied in HS and always maintain a 3.3 or higher GPA. I thought I could do the same thing in college because the beginning classes like English and thinks like that never really intrested me. But I got a quick wake up call when I got C's in almost all my classes and was put on academic probation. I cracked the book a little more then and still managed to pull A's and B's. Now that I'm in nursing school I feel like I'm making up for all of those times I didn't study because I'm studying all the time now. Even though I study maybe a little less than some of my classmates, I've still managed A's and B's in NS.

I'd say airway also...I know that's usually always the first priority ABC lol

Mine is: A=92-100 B= 81-91 C= 75-80 Below 75 means you retake the course!

It really does depend on the school. From what I remember English shouldn't be too bad. Like someone else mentioned I would suggest asking others who have taken it to see how they felt the class was. Best of luck to you.

I had an instructor like this my first semester, and was blessed to get her again for my second semester (being sarcastic of course!). My advice is to not let her get to your head. In my particular case my CI was that way towards me because she saw a lot of potential in me and always pushed me to do the very best that I could. It sucked at the time, but in the end I feel that it will pay off. Just try to keep being positive and know that you are doing the very best that you can everyday.

That program helps me A LOT before I take my med/surg exams! I really recommend it to any one looking for NCLEX questions.

Yeah at my school it's semester-long classes each. I couldn't imagine it being so rushed like that!!
