  1. I, too, had a monster clinical instructor who seemed to go out of her way to trip me up and then "discuss" my failings in front of the entire class and others. It got so bad that I just couldn't deal with her and withdrew, although I had excellent grades on tests. I just wish that nursing instructors could understand that we are unsure of ourselves and need encouragement to grow in our skills. The more you do, the better and more confident you become. Bad experiences can scar. Maybe the more students who write about this, the better. We need more nurses-- and compassionate ones!
  2. Thanks so much!!!!! Although I have the CD's that came with my book, they don't work on a Mac so I couldn't access this until now.
  3. I know, I know. I was just wondering if anyone else is going through the same thing! The failure rate at my school is so high, they are changing it beginning next semester into semester-long classes each. Thanks for your replies!
  4. Just wondering if anyone else is taking Med-Surg I and II in 8-week mini-mesters each......
  5. There is an LPN program at ATEC in Camden. I, too, have a BA in English and am starting my second semester in the ADN program at Central Carolina. Would really recommend that! And I'm 50 and terrible in math, but I'm doing okay and better than most.
  6. I did get your email and read the questions. I have been in Sumter taking a computer charting class for this semester. I promise to answer all of them when I have some time!
  7. I will be happy to answer any questions you might have! Did you sign up for the "mentor" with the SNA? I didn't, so I don't know if that would help you or not. Once school starts, it is very busy and there is not much time for anything except studying! Ask away!
  8. I just completed Fundamentals and Pharmacology at Central Carolina and will start my second semester Jan. 12 in the ADN program. The instructors were tough, but fair. Good luck!
  9. I am 49 and will be finishing Fundamentals in the ADN program in December. They said it would be difficult and unrelenting and it is, but if you are committed, you can do it. I must say that the older students do much better, because of the commitment factor. Of course, I don't "party" and don't have to worry about a boyfriend, etc.
