I also share this problem of people just NOT getting it. I usually fall asleep around 9 or 10 in the a.m. & wake up between 1 & 3 p.m. which is definitely not enough sleep people still think it's crazy that I "sleep all day"...really?!? It'...
I'm a new grad RN & will be off orientation in a couple of weeks......& I'm just not comfortable with administering meds to certain patients. Actually, I'm nervous about administering meds period...lol. But, I'm more nervous about narcotics/...
OP...I'm gonna be on my own this week too & I'm sooo scared & nervous. I've had this knot in my stomach for the past few days. Here is to us making it through *wine

Thanks Ayvah! Hmmm...another Q - why do the MD's order narcotics (ex. Darvocet 1-2 tabs Q4h) like that when the acetaminophin will be well over 4g/day?? I think 1 tab of Darvocet has 650mg/acetaminophen so if the patient was taking 2 Darvocet tabs...
I can't nap during the day. So...the night before I have to work, I just stay up as late as possible (usually 'til around 3 a.m.) & then sleep in as late as possible (usually 'til around 1 p.m.) & then I have ~4 hours to do whatever before I...
So, I've been on orientation & precepting now for 7 shifts (we get 12 w/ our preceptor). I'm still only taking 4 patients (our load is 5) & feeling completely overwhelmed. I know this is a normal feeling but I can't help but being frustrated ...

Actually, I told the aide at the beginning of the shift to d/c the foley & when I peeked in at 0630, I noticed the drainage bag was still hanging there. I was still running around trying to finish up my stuff (passing a few more meds, writing my...
OMG.....now I'm getting annoyed with the whole "MA's can give injections?!?!?". I was a medical assistant for 10 years & my last position, I was making just about $19/hr (So. Cal). I went to school & was taught how to give injections. It's n...
Don't go by studying time....go by what you actually get done in that time. Practice questions & always study your weak areas first!! I made notes (very concise) about things I didn't know or kept forgetting (diet, positions, etc.) It helped me...
Just keep doing questions & studying the rationales & I'm sure you'll be fine. Kaplan Q's are supposed to be tough anyways. If you're really unsure then just re-schedule the exam. I'm sure you rather put it out another couple of weeks than...
My Kaplan instructor says to take the test 3 weeks after the kaplan course. I don't think a week is long enough to finish the Q banks & question trainer 5 & 6.
Haha...you're right!! It was one of those questions where it asks you when would you intervene (or something like that) & that was the right answer. The other answers were kinda questionable I have to say.
I decided to do the Kaplan review after seeing that it helped so many people here. The first class was great - lots of tips about how to look at a question. After doing the Q bank questions, I now find myself frustrated . One tip we learned was "don'...

Do you mind if I ask how you did on your Q banks & question trainers? I'm done with the Kaplan classes & now just studying before I test in a couple of weeks. I thought doing Kaplan would boost my confidence but now I'm getting more scared ...
I totally agree with you. I'm only using Kaplan but referred to my Saunder's book when my classmates & I were really confused about the whole "to pad or not to pad the side rails". What I was trying to say is that Kaplan questions are confusing ...
