Did did try to keep my regular password, Commuter. Didn't work. UGH! Kept redirecting me even when I read to the bottom of the page in it's entirety several times. Maybe I'm just a doofus!
  2. ebear posted a topic in General Nursing
I have been trying to get logged into "breakroom" for hours now and changing password (as required) etc. I can read all of your kind words but have been unable to reply. Maybe my registration will go through eventually. I would just like to thank all of you for your kind words, encouragement, support and prayers during this very trying time. It means more than you all will ever know. :heartbeat With heartfelt gratitude, Ebear
  3. I had the same experience, Canes! It was a beeotch!
  4. Why is a patient ordered oxycodone and hydrocodone at the same time? Ask doc to review.
  5. Try both Carolinas. MANY teaching hospitals, as well as rural areas, are hiring new grads. It's the ones with >20yrs experience who are having the most problems finding employment.
  6. Blue collar with white trim.
  7. I'm with Viva. TOTALLY.
  8. Smiggers, Don't sweat it. At 2 months, you are just now getting your feet wet. Keep a little notebook in your pocket and jot down things to remember. DO NOT let them put you in a room alone until you have more experience under your belt. It matters not if you are short staffed. Volunteer to help with cases you are not familiar/comfortable with. Scrubbing as much as you can will help you become a better circulator. You can do this! Keep hanging!
  9. I haven't noticed a smell but I CAN see impending death in the eyes. It's sort of a "far away", blank, "other worldly" look. :uhoh21:
  10. I also agree with full introduction.
  11. Ruby, I had a colon resection (ca ) a few yrs back and was nekkid at my hospital, too. It will be OK, I promise! My 1st post op day, a fellow nurse brought a HUGE fruit arrangement to me in all it's glory. Me thinking to myself: "hmmmm.....wonder if I can eat this with an NG tube"..... The staff enjoyed the fruit and came in my room to take their breaks. You will remain in my prayers, Ruby!
  12. Once again, Siri cuts the bull. :)
  13. There are certified medical assistants, but they are by no means "registered". Time to bring this to the atention of state boards of nursing nationwide.
  14. Didn't you know that nurses are superhuman and are never to be on controlled meds for any reason?
  15. kcmylorn, Just call it like you see it, why don't cha?? :rotfl: I LOVE it!!!!
  16. So, the interviewer didn't even know what the NCLEX was. Does this give us a clue wherein the problems lie??
  17. Hygiene Queen, O.M.G.!!! Those "interviews" are just TOO FREAKY!!!
  18. been there done that, just be aware that many of us are wading through the same waters out here as you. Also, an arrogant "boss" is one thing.... a condescending "boss" won't be tolerated. I also have over 30 yrs experience and know BS when I see it. There just comes a time to cut to the chase and stop all the games, ya know? I think we deserve that.
  19. This is happening to experienced nurses at an alarming rate nationwide, union or not. I was laid off over a year ago with over 30 years experience, MANY certifications, blah blah blah (position eliminated). I've recently had some "amazing" interviews and sat with a nurse recruiter and 5 person peer review panel. ACED ALL the situational questions thrown my way and interviews couldn't have gone any more perfect. Was even told at the end of interview process "Oh, EBEAR! You will be PERFECT for this position with all your experience and personality!" I sent the "customary" thank you, etc. That was 2 weeks ago. Decided I would call to follow up (2nd time) today and was told that the position (s) had been filled. Thank you very much. The ONLY thing that it amounts to is that "they" want a 30 yr old nurse with 30 yrs experience at a new grad salary. Salary wasn't even discussed with me at that time; however, after asking about my yrs of experience, credentials, etc. my opinion is that it all boils down to the bottom line. kcmylorn, I fear that what you have recently experienced is going to be common practice in the very near future. Screw the patient.
  20. The last doc's office where I worked (cardiology) I made $26/hr. It depends on location.
  21. Grn Tea, I'm thinking SV = supervisor
  22. When you have to call him, put him on speaker phone for the other staff to hear. Then document and get witness's signatures. This is called "lateral violence" and your risk management department will be very interested in this matter, as well as Joint Commission. I've encountered several jerks such as this during my career. Trust me, it WAS handled.
  23. I don't even know where to START replying to the OP. This is all I can think of...
  24. TOTAL break in aseptic technique! Gloves contaminated from the get go and got worse from there. O.M.G.!
  25. "Old bat"? wow....
