  1. I'm 29 weeks pregnant now, I would wait until nursing school is done and possibly 6-12 months after you've established yourself as a nurse.
  2. I would say getting your BSN helps but I've know people with BSN's have had to wait a year before getting into hospitals.
  3. How many patients do you have? You can still apply to other jobs while working at this one. Typically most rehab/sniff have high patient ratios.
  4. Yes, especially with psych meds..most of them cause constipation.
  5. I would hate to say but yes I have declined an order. We had a visiting MD come to our small psych facility who would write the most ridiculous orders. This gentleman once ordered an 800 calorie diet for one of insulin dependent diabetics. My favorites were always the ones that were written for psych drugs when he was not the psychiatrist.
  6. You might be able to fine something. It frustrating when experience say 3-5 year perferred.
  7. My favorite since I work in a psych facility, "Wow, you must be really scared." Yes, I work with all the crazy ax murderers (note the sarcasm).
  8. Be flexible and realistic. Try other places other then hospitals, LTC, psych facilities, or corrections. I know some are less then desirable or you can always relocate.
  9. 9-10 week orientation does not seem very long. My friend went to a Critical Care area and had a 16 week orientation. Be careful and make sure they have a supportive environment and don't be afraid to ask for help.
  10. I was 30 when I recieved my RN-ADN, probably will be 34 or 35 when I get my BSN.

Sign on bonuses? Not here. The bonus is having a job.
  12. Standard 3% the last 3 year with a few addition 1.25 here and there.
  13. Review stuff from previous semester.
  14. Depends on class and the teacher.....
  15. I think you'll be fine. Most cats don't want to be around people who don't like them. Sorry, that you have had such a bad experiences with cats. They are pretty harmless. I've had over eight cats over the years.
  16. I understand if you feel like you are in a dead end job. I think a majority of nurses feel this way. The economy is bleak and not many openings for nurses to chose. I would like to move on but hey it pays the bills. I have plenty of years left for more exciting future endevors.
  17. Not around here in Seattle, WA. It's hard for the newer nurses, like myself. At least I have work.
  18. Psych/behavioral health nursing at an Adult Rehab Center. I have ADN in nursing and I am an RN.
  19. Yup, I've applied there too.
  20. I've done my clinicals at Evergreen and most of the staff were very nice and cooperative. I have friends that work there and they enjoy it. You may have to live outside of the kirkland area, home prices are high.
  21. Overlake is offering a residency program, which I have applied for and Providence, Everett. Harberview and Swedish are not offering residency programs. I have not checked with Virgina Mason. I am working right now at least.
  22. Hang in there we all have bad days, it's normal to feel this way.
  23. In the great northwest, near the Seattle area, most hospitals are not hiring new grads either. My advice take any job you can get as long and be creative.
  24. I thankful for my job, no more school, my wonderful husband and family.
