  1. I posted earlier but wanted to add a couple of things. I have been a nurse for a while in a variety of settings. I find when it comes to interpersonal difficulties there are a few things to consider. I know personally there was a time early in my career I felt someone was being mean to me. When I took a hard look at myself and got honest with myself I realized I was contributing to the problem. I had some attitude adjustments to make. In another situation years later I really was dealing with a bully. I confronted the bully in a meeting with my supervisor, in a professional manner, and it stopped. We all need to honestly assess ourselves. Are we contributing to the interpersonal problems in our lives? Are there changes we need to make? Or are we truly dealing with a bully? If we are dealing with a bully it is unacceptable. Earlier I said I believe the way we allow ourselves to be treated has contributed to the struggle nurses have faced to be recognized as professionals. I believe the way we sometimes treat one another has contributed to that struggle as well.
  2. Bullying can't be tolerated in my personal opinion. I don't know the details of this particular situation, only the OP does. If it truly is bullying it's not acceptable. Why is bullying tolerated in the nursing profession? Can you imagine doctors or lawyers putting up with it? In a recent BSN course we discussed the struggle nurses have faced to be recognized as professionals. I think the way we allow ourselves to be treated has contributed to that struggle.
  3. nlhnurse1982, John 3:16 gives me peace. I wish you all the best, Maddie
  4. Hello, I had hoped to relocate by now however I will be in Spokane for an indefinite amount of time. I will be applying to area hospitals in the near future. I would appreciate any feedback about Valley, Deaconess, and Sacred Heart hospitals. I am not a new RN but will be new to the hospital setting. If you currently work for any of the hospitals above or have worked there I would love to have your input. Pay is important but to be honest the environment is more important to me. I am looking for a place that promotes teamwork and has a generally positive atmosphere. Thank you in advance for your feedback. :)
  5. I don't work at St. Charles but am also interested in feedback from nurses who work there. How do you like working there? Do you feel it is a supportive environment for nurses who are new to the acute care setting? Any information would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Thank you for your quick reply MedSurgeMess, I appreciate it. I started out by searching on google and found websites but they were geared toward the interviewers, purchasing the product, etc. I then decided to post my questions because I am interested in personal experiences from those who have been interviewed using this process, or from interviewers who use this type of approach. It looks like this is becoming a more popular way to interview applicants. Although there are some wonderful posts about this subject here on this forum I am eager to learn more. I have never experienced a behavioral interview personally but may in the near future!
  7. I am interested in learning more about behavioral interviews. I have heard reference to Talent Plus, Top Talent, and would like to know more. I have read on this forum that hospitals such as the Mayo Clinic use this type of interview process. I will have some upcoming interviews at various hospitals and would love to hear from nurses who have experienced behavioral interviews or who work at facilities who use this type of interview process. Thank you in advance for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated. Maddie:specs:
  8. No I am not currently in Gig Harbor. We had to put our plans on hold temporarily and will consider relocating in the Spring. We still have not decided exactly where we would like to go. I think I have it narrowed down to the Gig Harbor, Kirkland/Seattle area. The hospitals I keep coming back to are St. Anthony's, Evergreen, and UWMC. I am hoping there will be more feedback about St. Anthony's in the near future as more nurses and travelers work there. I am also interested in more feedback about the other two hospitals. I may need to start a new thread.
  9. Hello, I am still interested in any feedback about St. Anthony's in Gig Harbor. A few months have passed so I was hoping someone might have some more input. Thanks so much!
  10. Thank you so much for your response stripedsock!! I really appreciate it! Maddie
  11. Thank you so much for explaining the experiential projects! That helps me and others who will read this thread to understand what they involve. And thank you susannyc for your response as well. I wish you all the best as you pursue your nursing career goals!
  12. I too am wondering about Chamberlain. If I do the fast track online but do not need all of the courses, as I have taken a few elsewhere, can I simply pick as many or as few as I want per session? I know there are not clinicals but what are the learning experiences that I have heard mentioned? I'm wondering if they are community health projects, working with a preceptor, etc? Any information would be greatly appreciated!
  13. Please disregard my earlier message, I was just able to PM successfully!
  14. They did offer CNA classes at a couple of LTC facilities I know of in Eastern Washington. That was a few years back so I'm not sure if they still do. The classes were posted in the classifieds in our local newspaper with all of the other jobs in healthcare. I hope you find what you need!
  15. Disregard my previous post, I now see your post about Providence Everett!
