I would say you are doing great. I averaged around 70-75% on most my qBank questions. Being an A student the scores worried me. Then I read that above 65% was considered good. I passed my RN boards with 75 questions in 45 minutes. This was last ...
I had around 20-25 SATA questions when I took my boards last April. I thought it was a cruel joke. However, I passed with flying colors. Remember, the harder the questions you are getting the better you are doing.
My first, and current, position is on a Cardiac/Telemetry floor. It is a steep learning curve, but manageable. Being able to read rhythm strips would be an asset if you eventually wanted to move onto ER or ICU. I also received ACLS training within...

I moved from the Lansing area about a year ago. I worked at Ingham as a nurse extern until I graduated and moved to the Upper Peninsula. For many months I worked as a nurse aid float, so I had the opportunity to see many of the floors. It is defin...

I was diagnosed with ADHD-non-hyperactive about 2 years ago. I was taking Concerta up until I got pregnant 8 months ago. I am still not certain that Concerta was the right medication for me, though. I tend to struggle with cleanliness, organizatio...
There was a pregnant nurse during orientation with me last February. They had no problem hiring her. I also had many pregnant ladies during nursing school. One was able to get hired but have the baby first and then take the position. However, it ...

I am pretty sure that the Traditional BSN and Accelerated BSN are somewhat difficult to get into as are almost all nursing schools in the area. I am currently enrolled in the RN-BSN program and am very satisfied so far. The faculty have been wonderf...
I was on Effexor when I applied for nursing school. I was required to have a physical performed along with mental health status by a family physician. He knew I was on the medication, I did not need to admit it to the nursing department. He was ve...
I admitted a patient last night from an outlying hospital with a diagnosis of malignant hyperthermia. Apparently, this was not anesthesia related. He had been extremely hyperthermic for a couple of days with no medications helping the temperature a...
I too had my first code on Sunday evening. The patient was admitted from an outlying hospital at the beginning of my shift. I asked the admitting NP to place him on either Stepdown or ICU because I felt he was too sick for our unit. Three and a ha...

Congrats on your 2.5 years! I am also in recovery, however, I got sober and then went to nursing school. My application to take the state boards addressed the question of alcohol/drug convictions so I had to disclose 3 MIPs. Thankfully, I was able...
I am 7 months pregnant. Of course my rib pain is either preeclampsia or my gallbladder. Even though I have an extremely short torso and it mostly hurts when sitting! LOL
I will finish my first semester of RN-BSN in the next two weeks. I graduated from my ADN in December '07. I didn't want to take too much time off school because I thought that I wouldn't go back. My program is through University of Michigan-Flint ...
1. How long have you been a smoker? I was a "full-time" smoker for about 5.5 yrs 2. How often and how much to you generally smoke cigarettes? I usually smoked 3/4 to a pack a day. Sometimes more if I was drinking. 3. What is your reasoning for smok...
I didn't have any felonies but I did have 5 misdemeanors all stemming from my drinking days. Three of them were MIPs. On my license application it was asked if I had ever been convicted of an alcohol/drug offense. After receiving my application I ...
I had 75 questions and 23 or them were SATAs. I did not receive a single OB question. Oh, and I passed! I think if you were getting so many difficult (SATA) questions then most likely you did very well.
One more thing, as RNs were are responsible for the telemetry monitoring. There is no central monitoring station or employee paid to sit an watch the monitors.
I am an RN at a regional medical center. I work cardiac telemetry, but will get medical and surgical tele patients as well. Particularly, since most other floors do not monitor heart rhythm. As an RN I take 4 patients on my own or up to eight with ...
I took my boards in April. I had somewhere between 20-25 SATAs. The computer also shut off at 75. I was afraid I had failed because I did not receive a single OB question. However, I passed. I would think that since you got so many SATAs that it...
I grew up in a working class family. Our family was mosty close knit until the late elementary years. I had a younger brother born in 1990. Two summers later in 1992 he died by drowing in a pool while I was babysitting him. I would never be the s...
I just finished taking my NCLEX exam. I was finished in 75 questions. Most of my questions seem to have been Med/Surg with a lot on protective equipment for specific diseases. I am not lying when I say that I had at least 25 SATA questions. What ...
