About MelissaQLomas

MelissaQLomas specializes in Human Capital Development.

Though I am not a nurse, I am an identical twin sister to a night shift SurgOnc RN with 25 years of experience covering dialysis, hospice, and oncology. People in our family are either in medicine, education, or both. My twin’s career and effect on her life - and mine - is the inspiration for my Ph.D. studies researching workplace development and nurse preservation strategies in clinical settings. I have an academic background in government and private sectors focusing on training, process/systems reengineering, and change management, including PMP and ROI Professional certifications. Given current staff shortages and burnout trends, my twin and I have created a prospective nurse retention model. The concept is not an HR maneuver; it’s a tactical role integrating clinical and psychological support for staff nurses on the night shift assigned to patients with the highest acuity (no pizza involved, promise). I hope to have her join soon so we can share more insights with the greater community.
