I got sick end of Feb and was hospitalized mid March, just as schools shut down. Never been so sick, for so long. Bilat pneumonia. Covid 19 and flu neg. Hmmm. Quarantined 8 days awaiting results which were neg. I was very surprised. Took me 2 weeks to recover after discharged. Severe sob and hacking cough. Anyways, had antibody test last week. Neg. Well now. Do I have confidence in either test? Not 100% if I'm being honest.

I'm old enough to remember the polio epidemic and what happened when the first vaccine was administered. I have to pass on a vaccine until it is proven to be safe.

Locked up by masks this week for the first time ever. What has happened to common sense??

So agree. We really don't think like teachers/admin, and they don't think like us. This thought will keep me up till 2 am for sure....

I came to school nursing from bedside oncology nursing. The pay cut was significant but the trade off makes up for it. I have decent hours, I adore the littlins that I care for, I have my evenings and weekends free, and a get a bonus 6 weeks off in the Summer. I am paid a year round salary so it's doable. Could I make double the money in the hospital picking up extra shifts, etc.? Sure. But I'd be doing 12 hr shifts also. This nurse is getting up in years, so not for me..

Just about everything that could go wrong in that situation, did. The step dad deserved the death penalty. Mom did too but when she saw him get sentenced, she copped a plea deal fast.

I have a nurse doll in my office. I think these would look wonderful on her. Doubt if anyone would get the humor but I would find it most amusing.

I have no problem keeping sick kids until parents can pick them up, within reason. It's the parents who can never be reached or say they're on their way, and show up 4 hours later (at dismissal time) that cause the most frustration!

One of the first things I do each morning is check the email from the secretary listing which teachers are out and who is subbing in their class. When there is a PD day, I die a little. Cause I know many teachers will be out and I will see the FF kids in each class for s/s "silly stuff". (Notice how I used the word stuff, instead of the word I use in my head). Anyhoo, sometimes I have to pick up the phone and tell the sub, just STOP. Especially with the sending them in three's. O.M.G.

You are my spirit animal. I've also been closely following this virus online since late December. I check the updates daily and have been fascinated by the whole scenario. I watched a Netflix documentary around the time this thing began, I think it was called "Pandemic" and it is very, very interesting. As far as our district, we're following the Health Dept. No parents or teachers have expressed any concern, at least not yet...

Had this happen to me not long ago. I did a DCS call on a foster student. Foster mom told secretary she needed to talk to me and secretary let her in. She stood between me and my door, then proceeded to shut my door and lay into me. Her biggest gripe? That she could potentially lose her foster care money. Not whether said report was true. (Which is was). This chick could have snapped me like a twig. I told secretary don't EVER let her in my office again. I would be happy to talk to her in the front office or in the Principal's office. She never came back.

I agree! I usually tell them to eat breakfast first, then check in with their teacher. The teacher can decide whether they need to see me or not.

I tell parents they're not giving away Lamborghinis or Bentleys this year for perfect attendance.

No way would I agree unless district lawyer and Admin were present.
