Are they fully accredited? What's their completion rate/dropout rate? Pass rate on state boards? Dothey seem at all selective in their acceptance criteria, or is a pulse enough? Are they approved for federal student aid programs?

WIll they give you what you need?

Will it prepare you to move into a RN program?

Suggestion: Contact the admissions depts at local LPN-->RN programs. Ask what they think of this school & the quality of clinicians they turn out.

it seems pretty easy to get in. all the people i have talked to that have gone there have passed but some complain of it being very unorganized. they just got accredited and accept financial aid. its a private school and costs over 13k to go. the local comm college is only 7500 but like i said it has a 2 yr wait list. they also told me i could do my bridge there.:typing

Hi KloesMama,

I was accepted at PHTA last year. I did not go. At that time, they did not have financial aid, and it was $13,000 for the LPN program. As far as I know, they do not have an RN program. I know some people that graduated from there, and they can only work in Nursing homes and Dr's offices. Apparently the hospitals will not hire graduates from there.( I have been told this by a nursing director at ORMC) I have also been told that they do their clinicals in Gainesville, which is a good drive from Ocala. I started out at CFCC doing pre reqs for the RN program. I have since been accepted into the RN program at Webster College in Ocala, and it is amazing! I highly reccommend this program. The instructors are excellent, very knowledgeable, and take time with you if you need it. I am in my second semester, and when I applied, there was no waiting list. They are accredited. They also incorporate pre req into their program if you need them. I do not know if there is a waiting list or not, but a new semester will be starting soon. We do clinicals at the local hospitals in Ocala. If you want to go somewhere accredited, then do not go to PHTA. They are only accredited by the BON, which means your credits will not transfer. They are extremely unorganized, and the owner/director only cares about the bottom line, which is money....Just my 2 cents

hey thanks for the advice. i have decided i am going to goto cf and start my pre-reqs and go for the rn instead of bridging. webster is an awesome college. i started there for medical asst but had to quit b/c of pregnancy complications. maybe after my pre-reqs i can go back. thanks.

I found out that they are fully accredited, offer financial aid :nuke: and are approved by every regulatory board out there, just so know that its a real school and not like these other diploma mills out there in the surrounding area. Plus I have worked with serveral of the graduates from there and they really know there stuff.
