Our facility, located in TN, is "petitioning to close OB services". I have searched the web and cannot find information on how long this takes. Rumor is 90 days once the petition is granted. Does anyone have any information on this issue?

Took about 3 months for the one I used to work at.

But I do not know the details of how this really happened---I just know we were told in March and out of work June 30.

It will depend on your state. OB Depts are licensed by the state, same as Emergency Depts., and there are certain specific procedures that need to be followed. Would be at least 90 days, but could be even longer. Some facilities will actually fo as far as to keep one person in house for OB if sn emergenct delivery showed up in the ER for about one year.

Will also depend on your facility, how close the nearest facility is from them that can do deliveries, etc.
