Has anyone had a problem finding an assignment in Chicago? I was just checking online with my agency and they only have a few. I checked another agency and they had nothing at all. I'm not traveling until June but I was just checking things out for now.

The Midwest in general does not seem to have as many travel assignments available as other areas of the country. Last summer when I was looking for an assignment in WI to be close to family for a while, the closest I could get with decent pay was in Iowa....

Interesting.
I was planning to spend at least some time in Ohio once I start traveling. I planned on doing that around Christmas time. I figured that no one wants to be assigned there during the winter and there might be plenty of assignments available.
But maybe I'm wrong.

I'm from Ohio (around Dayton/Cinncinnati/Columbus) area, but on an assignment in Amarillo, Texas. There are usually jobs in those areas; the winters aren't that bad (depending on where your from); haven't had a really 'bad' winter for quite a while. Here are some good hospitals to check out in Dayton: Miami Valley Hospital, Grandview Hospital, The Dayton Heart Hospital, Good Sam Hospital; there are some good hospitals in Columbus, but unless you've taken the PBDS test, most of the major hospitals in Columbus use this test; check with your travel company, because I've heard that some nurses aren't passing this test, and their contracts aren't honored. Cinncinnati is a large and busy city; just have to be careful of certain areas
