Hi everyone,
I've been a nurse since the end of September and I've been working on a step-down tele floor since then with hopes of getting into the next CCIP, which starts in August. However, I am really looking for a way to supplement my income (earn some extra money, basically) and am thinking about home health care prn. I just wanted some of your opinions and experiences. I know home health care is difficult because you are functioning much more independently, so I am not sure if anyone would even hire me with my experience, but I do have a BSN and I feel confident in my nursing skills. Moreover, my hospital is part of a larger organization that does offer home health...do you think it would be better to apply for one of these positions or go through a private agency?
Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Your experience might get you hired with some agencies. Make certain that you get a good orientation. I would choose an outside agency for job security reasons. If something should happen that you are cut from your current position, your foot is in the door at a second employer. Many people take on home health positions for just the reason you state. Hope you can find a job that fits your needs.
Thank you for the response!
