It varies - depends on the particular facility and staff. We have a great patient:nurse ratio and great pay. Quality of orientation depends who is orienting you. My orientation was quite lacking, so I was asking tons of questions but answers weren't very helpful. I was told by one new RN that I'm excellent at orienting new nurses and should be assigned to orient everyone. Quality of care depends on the staff working that particular shift, and especially on how new the MHW are. It's not the facility - it's the staff that make the difference. For considerations of pay and benefits only, the VA is great.

Hi everyone!
I figure with everyones experience on this board that I can get some good answers to this question. What do you all think of Private Vs. State Vs. Public Hospitals. Pay, quality of orientations, patient:nurse ratio and quality of care.
Thanks everyone! :)
