Hello everyone!
I have been accepted to Baker University and Washburn University for Spring 2016. They both are BSN programs in Topeka, Kansas.
Baker:
- private program
- 42 accepted
- $8,900/ semester
- multiple scholarships available
- located in Stormont-Vail hospital
- 96.15% pass rates on NCLEX
Washburn
- public university
- 85 accepted
- $6,000/ semester
- NOT able to receive anything but loans for financial aid
- located on public university
- 73.53% pass rates on NCLEX
I have always wanted to go to Baker University however, it is very expensive.
** I need to decided soon on where to attend. Any knowledge or opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Have you already maxxed out or are you ineligible for governmental subsidies (Pell Grant, etc)? If not, your financial summary may not be accurate. If these schools follow the usual pattern, you cannot actually be admitted to the nursing program until you have completed some general education pre-requisites. If not, you could take care of these at a Community College for a lot less money.
Suggest you do a more detailed financial analysis with inclusion of financial aid for which you are eligible. It appears that they are both traditional schools (not commercial, investor-owned). Compare everything side-by-side and then make up your mind.
Best of luck to you!

A 73% pass rate? Heck no.
I am ineligible to receive government financial aid. I have completed all pre-requisites and I am accepted into both programs. I think I have decided to accept the seat at Baker. It is just so incredibly expensive!!
Any tips on scrounging up some scholarships or grant money?
