Previous employer making slanderous statements

Published

I have heard through the grapevine through both previous co-workers and family members of the place that I was previously employed at, that the person who took over my position (and was previously fired from the same position but was hired back) is making completely untrue and slanderous statements about me and my performance that is completely unsubstantiated.

Should I send a cease and desist letter to the corporate offices and let them know that I will sue them if it doesn't stop? I value my reputation and I left this place because of the extremely dangerous (license wise) situation and other illegal things that were going on. I am just curious to know what I can and can't do in this situation. It concerns me as some of this stuff is quite damaging and could do a lot of harm if it isn't stopped.

Thanks.
