Nurses Criminal

In 2008 I received the sanction of "remedial education with fine" from the Texas Board of Nursing.

I learned the hard way not to fight the man!! Shortly after I confidentially shared some concerns to HR regarding my supervisor a documentation error was found during a chart audit....they called it a medication error, but the reality is it was a documentation error. I took my classes, paid my fine, and moved on.

I'm now working as a telephonic nurse for a home health agency that cares for patients in multiple states. I've worked with patients in other states, but they were always compact states. Now it looks as though I am going to need to obtain a nursing licence in 3 non-compact states.

Is a blemish like this on my record going to prevent me from getting licensed in other states?

**I'm not looking for legal advice...just curious if anyone else has been in a similar situation

We aren't lawyers and don't play them on TV. However, you should call the state boards of nursing in the other states to let them know you have no active restrictions on your current license (you don't, right?) and ask them what they want you to do.

I agree with GrnTea. Even if others with similar experiences come by to chime in, there's no guarantee that your story will play out the exact same way that theirs did.

And even so, it's not what they or what anyone here says that really matters: it's the word of whatever BONs you are applying to that does. They are really the ones whose brains you need to pick as they will be the ones granting you endorsements.

Best of luck.

I get what ya'll are saying. It's just stressful. The worst thing they can say is no...but I'll never know if I don't try.
