preq classes

how long does it take to complete preq. classes 4 nursing school

1 year is pretty much minimum (most people aren't going to do well if they attempt to do all three science classes in one semester), but it can take much longer, depending on what prerequisites your school requires, and what prerequisites you have to take before taking the prerequisite classes.

For example, some people have to take several semesters of math before they can take the science prerequisites.

Lets see, I started taking my pre-reqs in Spring of 08' I should be done by Fall of 09'. the first semester I took 5 classes and I took one class in the Summer, so now I can only take 2 classes a semester, which will all be done by next Fall, because all the classes I have left can't be taken together so they have to be spread apart, (A&PI, A&PII, Micro.), and I am taking a few classes that need to be done in nursing that are non-nursing classes so I thought what the hell I'll just get them doen now less to do in nursing. Cross your fingers all goes well.

It also all depends on you and your school and what pre-reqs are needed for the nursing program you are applying for. Check out your school website it does help out a lot.

Good Luck!

it requires 35 hrs of pre. i will have compeleted 9hrs by may 2009.is it smart to finish all of the easy classes that i would have left(psych, physical actv.,speech and fine arts) before taking my remaining sciences?

Spreading the science classes out and taking the other prereqs at the same time is probably going to be easier and more efficient than jamming the science together at the end.

Like, take Psych with Anatomy/A&PI, Speech with Physio/A&PII, and Fine Arts with Micro, rather than all the non-science one semester and then completing the science classes in 2-3 semesters after that.

2 years. im doing the bachelors program. i took 3-4 classes per semester, i didnt want to overload myself as i have a dead beat boyfriend and son plus work full time. some of my friends finished up in 1 1/2 yr. it all depends on what you handle.

i would plan on at least 4 semesters, especially with the chem sequence.

Specializes in ICU.

I started pre-reqs back in the fall of 2004 and still have 2 classes to take. I have only been taking 1 class a semester.
