Preparing to take the NCLEX-RN for the 1st time

Published

Hello all,

I've been reading many posts on this forum and I'm pretty much completely freaked out about the test. I'm wondering if I've been doing everything I should be. I've done the Hurst review, 3 Q reviews to date, & the Kaplan premier book. Yesterday I was having a mini panic attack so I went and bought the Saunders book. I got home, opened it up and was even more terrified. I've been studying and doing practice questions for about 2 weeks now and my exam is on the 19th so I still have a good bit of study days left. If anyone has any advice at all id definitely appreciate it! Hopefully I'm not the only one completely panicking about this test, I'd just really love to pass on the 1st try (Wouldn't we all :) )

You aren't alone! We all felt that way. No one but you can say if you are doing enough. A lot of us did 100+ practice questions a day for several weeks. Hurst, Kaplan and Saunders are good reviews.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Emergency, Trauma.

Start making mock NCLEX exams; start with the minimum; work your way up to the maximum to get a feel of endurance for the exam.

Also be VERY familiar with the four concepts of NCLEX, which is the four concepts of becoming an entry-level professional nurse:

1. Safe, effective care;

2. Health Promotion;

3.Physiological Integrity;

4. Psychosocial Integrity.

If you know what your weaknesses are in the four areas, work on those questions and concepts.

Also get to know what is expected on test day to prevent yourself from being disqualified from taking the exam. Go to ncsbn.com to find out morse information on the four concepts of the NCLEX, what is expected before the test, during the test, etc.

Best wishes.

I feel you.. We can do this!!! Thanks for the advice @LadyFree28
